Never once have I received a subsidy to help pay for it, courtesy of a taxpayer. Have you?

Regardless, your premiums have gone up every single year.
Can't speak for Tony but that is not true for me. Same policy, same risk, same premium for 3 years straight at a time when the media was wringing its hands - until 2014. Not only did I get a premium hike, but I have a huge deductible to meet before anything gets covered - the highest ever. By law, empty nesters must now carry pediatric dental benefits - adding on more money per month that they were not previously paying. Oh, and the doctor contracted amounts are ridiculous.$495 for a 5 minute consult for a specialist? Why do you think so many doctors are banding together for privately owned medical facilities? And how about the latest earnings for United Health Care?

Make no mistake - the health care reform was nothing more than corporate fascism. And in the end, what was FKA the middle class will suffer.

Heh, good thing we're all so afraid of socialist healthcare. I mean, god only knows how much more it much cost per capita for healthcare in places with single payer systems. Doubtless it's many times what the US system costs.

(Seriously, though. You guys should get a proper single payer system, it's brill)

Why don't you tell us all the good things Oblamo has done with facts, not your immature tantrums.
It's fact. Rephrase the question. "What Oblamo has done with facts." Is a ignorantly formed question. Your limited vocabulary will cripple you, but try son.

That's how insurance has worked since the beginning of insurance.
Again, you are misinformed:

Definition of HEALTH INSURANCE

: insurance against loss through illness of the insured; especially : insurance providing compensation for medical expenses

Insurance works by grouping people in pools and managing the cost to ensure the premiums cover the cost.

What he was probably referring to was the cost of premium, co-pays and deductibles increasing due to increased govt regulation, mandates and coverage. Nothing is free and although your colonoscopy, birth control and other healthcare products do not cost you it is figured into the cost.

But you probably already knew that. Just trying to clarify your post.

1. because extra things are covered that I'll never need (birth control, really? I'm retired, and my wife has already went through the change)

2. Because now they have to cover people with pre-existing conditions.

3. Sales tax has been added.

Not only did my premium go up, my deductible increased too, as well as copays on prescriptions.

I don't believe that yours didn't, unless you are getting a subsidy or are on Medicaid, in which case someone else is paying the difference.

<quoted text>Yes. Bush said this while running against Reagan in the primaries. Candidates say many things during the primaries that are designed to get votes yet have little direction as to what they would actually do if elected.

Shall we look at our current POTUS:

Oblamo said he would cut the deficit in half. It has almost doubled.

Oblamo said this would be the most transparent administration ever. Yet we have NSA, IRS, VA, Fast and Furious, Benghazi and now a terrorist trade for a deserter where questions have never been answered.

Oblamo said he would end corporate welfare by closing loopholes, such as Oil and Gas subsidies, CEO pay deductibility, expand child care and dependent care tax credit.

Require auto enrollment in 401K.

End no-bid contracts >$25K.

Eliminate income tax for seniors with <$50K in income.

Forbid companies in bankruptcy from paying bonuses.

And so many more.

But my favorite broken promise as well as what was proven to be a lie told over and over is "under my plan, you can keep your insurance, doctor and save $2500"
Millions signed up. So not sure what this will accomplish. You should probably move on like the rest of us.

<quoted text>Real solutions? Typical lib talking points.

We let a democratic congress and WH focus on a real solution to healthcare. What we got was insurance reform that affected everyone despite promises otherwise that costs more despite promises.

The only thing accomplished was increased govt regulation, a huge tax increase to pay for it, delays due to incompetent management implementing a plan no one can understand and still no one knows how many policies were issued.

And we still have and still will have 35M uninsured.

Now that is a real solution that will take years to fix.
Health care was one aspect. Also we were pulled from the destruction that the Bush administration led us into. DOW has been higher under Obama. Unemployment shrinking... LOL!!! Maybe invest in conservative crying towels?

No crying here but still whining about Bush 5+ years after the man with the plan took over is a big cop out.

Oh yeah that economic recovery you mentioned has done so much to get people off food stamps, Medicaid and the most important part, a good job! Now the plan is to increase the minimum wage so those college graduates can work fast food to pay off their loans.

You need to find something he has done that has helped the country.

Reagan's campaign in 1984 was won with one quote, "Are you better off than you were four years ago?".

Oblamo can't ask that question 5.5 years or at the rate this economy is going, ever!

But the actual truth is this:
President Barack Obama is bringing some belt-tightening to the White House. In one of his first official acts, the president announced an immediate pay freeze at current levels for senior White House officials. According to the Associated Press, the freeze would apply to about 100 aides earning over $100,000 a year.

Two questions come to mind when thinking about the direction of this country.

1. Do you think govt solves problems or creates them?

2. Do you think you get good value for the taxes/regulations govt passes without the citizen's voting?

Let's look at today's congress..what have, they done for you and the people? Voting on an issue 55 times to no avail to repeal it
The congress doesn't vote to pass any regulations, unless it's to their benefit, let alone people...some are so lazy they can't get off their couch to vote the few times required
There are probably useless positions in government costing taxpayers money god forbid they should exert themselves

This is such an important concept that I think really bypasses most Americans. There is such a focus on getting taxes low, keeping them low, that nobody seems willing to look more closely at the value proposition for what is paid. You get historically and internationally low rates of taxation but a standard of living and system of worker's rights and regulation that really demonstrate that you get what you pay for.

It would be great to have the public educated to a degree where the siren song of low taxes is less appealing than looking at effective means of taxation and social services modeled by those currently in action around the globe.
