Do you feel lonely?
Living alone doesn't necessarily mean you're a lonely person.
You have your kitties, all the hobbies you love to surround you, movies, tapes, etc.
You also have a job, freedom, you're healthy. Life is what you make it
Just because you don't live in a mansion doesn't mean you're any less a person than anyone else.
Just remember...actions speak louder than words.

Go out and meet some people.....not just the grocery, but out out!
There are singles groups, church groups, online dating, etc. you have to gain confidence in yourself and
JUST DO IT!
Sitting alone isn't healthy, you're young enough to still sew your oats!
I would reconsider about the new trailer! Animals adapt, silly! I would do it!
Then you will provide an updated home for you and the kitties, and just maybe ,if you meet someone, a-hem, you can invite her over!
How great would that be?

AA only works for about 15% of the people. This sounds like it makes more sense:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinclair_Method

I am more and more convinced that psychology is a bunch of crap. It's all about how you're wired, and you're wired to crave alcohol like a fat person craves food. No amount of prayer or willpower can make you overcome how you're wired so don't beat yourself up over it.

That said, if AA works for you don't let me discourage you from doing it. But if someone can give you some meds and they help, that makes AA easier.

Pay attention to this line:

"The Sinclair Method is used extensively as an outpatient treatment at The Contral Clinic in Finland. To date, they have treated tens of thousands of patients with a success rate around 78%, with 25% reducing their drinking to complete abstinence[7] with little or no craving.[1] The effect of opiate antagonists on addictive behaviors has also been demonstrated for gambling[8] and kleptomania."

I quit drinking on my own. It's been about 2 years now. Once i found out how enjoyable sobriety was, I've not had the urge to go back. The first couple weeks were tough, but that's when I felt, "now i can get stuff done". Cold turkey...not Wild Turkey worked for me. Just stay busy and avoid others who drink(for awhile), and believe. Good Luck, Dave.{/; >)

If you can do it that way, more power to you, but everybody is different. If you're wired in such a way where your brain is getting the same sensation like you get when you're hungry, I can see where it would be a hard thing to kick.

I never had a drinking problem, but I rarely drink these days because of the calories and because it affects my work the next day.

It is a hard thing to kick, no matter what step you take. For me, if you noticed it was a problem, you'll see a major difference when quitting. For people who casual drink, but don't think it's a problem, most likely don't quit nor realize if it was one or not. No matter what..you'll have to want to quit before being forced to quit.
BTW, I'm not disagreeing on any of your post, just adding.

No prob. Because of what I do, I get to meet a lot of people. There is no "one size fits all" way to deal with these things. I think AA is a good step because it keeps you centered and accountable. But after reading about the Sinclair Method recently, I don't know if it works or not, but I decided that the concept makes a lot of sense.

I spent 13 years there and then screwed up big time.I'm gonna do this on my own.I know I can. Most of those people in AA were backstabbers.I can get more help from you people and be able to stay right here with my kitties. Thanks Bob.
