Just saw this story on 10TV and can not believe that the Columbus Police
Dept. refused to release this officers picture saying they don't release police officers pictures, this is total bull!! If this was anyone else they would be releasing a mug shot like halloween candy. I would think his official picture is a public record.

Wow, some really critical folks posting here. It would be nice to know the details, but all I can say is there are some really good officers out there and this doesn't help their reputation at all. While there are plenty of bad ones, some are really courageous, doing a dangerous job and trying to do the right thing by helping people. If everyone is so critical of police, then who are YOU going to call when you need help? Just my 2 cents. And no, I'm not in law enforcement...

There are some pretty good officer's in Columbus. I've had my run-ins with the law and they gave me hell. They're good at what the do here and pretty decent hard-working people. Its funny I'd be the one saying that but its true.Some of them are bad but the good ones far outweigh the bad. I think they deserve more respect than they've been given here.Without them you'd mess your pants within days. Lets not forget they risk their lives to save not only us but our children. This is only an accusation, the man is innocent until all the facts are determined. Don't be so quick to jump to conclusions.Conservatives are a vicious hate mob here in Columbus!

I would have to agree with jgoodie there are many good police officers in Columbus, what we see in the news is just a small precentage of officers who are singled out by the media for shock value. They don't report the good that police officers do day in and day out.

Oh well, what a sad misfortune, for everyone involved. All in all this kind of thing is rather petty considering the various possible options for somebody seeking a little dangerous fun. What a shame it had to happen. People are frustrated in life and they go down foolish paths, oftentimes because they have no real time to themselves to sort out their own minds. I feel fairly sure that this man is not an evil person, but this is what happens when one is indiscrete. Now he'll have this hard lesson to learn. Nonetheless it is probably a less destructive vice than drug addiction. Wish everyone the best from this experience.

And frankly I wonder about the manpower devoted to this kind of crime. I would wonder if it wouldn't be better if some of these officers weren't reassigned to homicide or if somehow a new program or initiative wasn't created to deal with the unsolved homicides related to organized drug crime in Columbus. There are quite a few of these and every day these murders go unpunished those who perpetrated them grow bolder and stronger in their communities. How many officers do we really need spending day after full day of work trying to catch peter-pullers in our parks in the wintertime. Perhaps it doesn't need to be either or, but I would surely feel more forgiving if these issues of homicide were more under control in this city.
