Funny how script from a film from the pre-PC era is suddenly acceptable....

Ummm, when exactly did the PC era begin?

Didn't say it was acceptable.

The word that I used (and used and used) was stupid.

An admission that you are just as prejudiced as those you chastise here on the forum. BTW, I never said stupid - I said crude. Big difference.
Are you talking prejudice, or racism?

They are not the same thing, you know.

As regards racism, it resides in our social structures and impacts us all. Including me--something I have little difficulty admitting.

But most folks who post here don't like to get that deeply into the discussion. It starts to involve Critical Race Theory and all that stuff--and the first sentence in wikipedia (that Karl has read) doesn't quite provide sufficient basis for discussion.

Can you point to some specific event that leads you to this specific year?

The near disappearance at that time of raunchy teen movies (they began to slowly reappear in 1999 with "American Pie.")
Ditto raunchy ethnic and racial comedies. Add to that the emergence of Michael Moore with "Roger and Me" which seemed to mark the beginning of the mass market leftist documentary genre. And let's not forget Oliver Stone's works of the period.

Just once, let's see you counter one of my posts with something exceeding your usual grade school mentality.

So--the "PC era" in your mind lasted from 1988-1999?

Can you point to any specific events that brought this about?

As an example, an earlier period of far more formal censorship of movies was spurred by the advent of the Hayes Code in the 1930s.

I didn't say the PC era ended in 1999. I said that one particular genre reappeared after an over decade-long absence. The PC era continues to this day with the shabby treatment of males in the movies, the absolute inability to make movies like Blazing Saddles and Slap Shot today, and the silly and ignorant "rebranding" of enemies in movies like The Sum of All Fears and the remake of Red Dawn.

Why bother? You would have to pay your psych-nurse to translate anything that was more sophisticated than a coloring book.

Might I suggest then, that you leave off trying to engage in conversation with me.

You have expressed your opinion of me--essentially I am intellectually below you, and futher you disagree with me on virtually everything.

I can't see any further possibility for conversation.
