The way things work out here for the holidays are pretty great. Lights and such for Eid, for Diwali, generic winter lights for Christmas and Hanukkah and trees for Christmas. Nobody really seems to much care about other folks celebrating their holidays and the extra lights and decorations are really pretty.

Christianity is the Light of the world and the Darkness hates the light.

"And the light shines in the Darkness and the Darkness comprehended it not." John 1:5.

The war on Christmas is really the war on Christianity. Look at those lands without any Christians to see what their world is like: Somalia, Sudan or Saudi Arabia. We are right and proper to fight for our believes and to fight the many enemies, atheist like Big Johnson and those so called liberal Christians that under mine our faith from within like Reader and Female, especially attacking the wisdom of our White Male Heterosexual Founding Fathers and promoting sexual perversions.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Yep...and why the hell doesn't the goddess Sophia knock some sense into Muhammad's allah about his murderous misognyny?

Makes you wonder.
I'll wait for Reader to explain the cosmic balance.

LOL.

Didn't know that Reader thinks that Dan Brown is a history writer and not a fiction writer (a bad writer at that as well)

Yeah, the whole "My god is the real god and needs to be represented as such" isn't really something that reasonable people can use to prioritize religious celebrations in a public sphere.

Everyone thinks their god is the true god. In a multifaith population, it really becomes a toss up between recognizing every faith or none.

That's not an issue. Most people (aside from fire-breathing evangelicals) are cool with that. But Islam is not a religion.

When people are offended by a Christian display, they are not slandered by the MSM.

When people are offended by Islam, they are slandered.

I don't know why that has become so difficult for folks to understand lately.

I support others religious freedoms because I value my own.

And to extend such freedoms to all requires acknowledging that each of us may have to spend some time standing in the reflected light of someone else's truth.

Whole lotta loaded language there, Troll.

Got some examples of people being offended by Islam being "slandered" (recalling that slander has a pretty specific legal meaning) by the press?

I would ask for the reverse (people offended by Christianity NOT being slandered), but you can't prove a negative.

You're aware that claiming someone else's religion isn't a valid religion is just as useful as trying to claim your god is the true god, in this case?

Requiring a biased third party to validate and certify acceptable religions is going to keep the process from working in the same ways that using a claim of the religion's superiority is going to fail. Everyone thinks their religion is the true one. Most everyone also seems to think that other religions aren't proper ones.

The way things work out here seem to work pretty well.

A valid religion does not maintain its membership by threat of death.

Show me what the other Gods and their civilizations created? Great architecture? Great art? Great music? Technological innovation? An abundance of food and medical technology? Agriculture so efficient that we could feed the entire world if we wanted to? Great nations and the spread of language and culture throughout the world? Human rights, and the right to pursue your dreams?

What did those other peoples and their "Gods" create other than oppressive regimes, corrupt governments, control of their rabble and poverty?

You people don't appreciate what you have in this country. You need to live in Venezuela for a few years before you start clamoring for their style of government here.

You seem to have missed the point, rather sparklingly.

For the purpose of creating effective public policy on this issue, individuals making claims that their god is the true god is irrelevant. Everyone thinks this about their own faith.

Your adding reasons that you think your god is the true god are equally irrelevant. Why you think your belief system is the sole true faith doesn't matter in this debate. Susie down the street, the guy next door and every other person out there with a personal faith can offer the same claims about their faith.

In 3 minutes, I pulled up multiple articles which disproves your point in the UK. Thanks for playing, though.

But you don't, and your posts have stated as such. Whether it's a fundamentalist Christian group or whether it's Catholics against paying for birth control, you rally against it. And if you TRULY believed in religion for all, you would respect a Catholic decision to not pay for birth control - which goes against their religion.

I really don't care how you think because I don't know you, but your repeated hypocrisy drives me up the wall - and yes, I am especially hissed off about your crude Native American joke. Had I done the same against black folk, how would you feel?
