This group sounds like the remnants of the mostly defunct Million Mom March organization.
What exactly do these misguided mommies want? Don't tell me a ban on assualt weapons and large capacity magazines. We had that ban from 1994 to 2004. Right smack dab in the middle of that ban was the Million Mom March held on mothers day back in 2000 in Washington, DC. The National Park Service which oversees rallies on the National Mall estimated the crown at only 250,000. I watched it live on C-SPAN
The emcee of the rally was none other than lesbian militant Rosie O'Donnell (who has personal armed body guards for her own protection). These hysterical woman were screeching: "We want commom sense gun control ledge-is-slaaay-shun." We want gun licensing and redge-is-traaay-shun".
No. What they really want is a total ban on private ownership of firearms as they are afraid of and do not like guns. Don't kid yourself.
Too bad these misguided mommies don't demand the liberal Democrats that they fawn over and vote for to enforce the thousands of gun laws already on the books.
Of course, Mayor Coalman has to show up at this rally and flap his mouth. Columbus has an assault weapons ban. How's that ban working out for you mayor? So far, the only thing it has accomplished is your city loosing an estimated 15 million dollars in convention business when the NRA dropped Columbus, which it had already selected, as the site of its 2004 national convention. Wayne LaPierre personally came to Columbus to announce it was dropping Columbus because of its new ban signed into law by Coalman. The convention was moved to St. Louis for that year and it was held there again last year.
OK, mommies. Keep on blaming innocuous guns, law-abiding gun owners, the NRA, conservatives, the Republican party, toothless rednecks and whatever else for a decadent social environment. Just once, I would like to see you place the blame where it belongs on criminals, drug dealing gang members and an ineffective mental health system. Just once.
