Well I guess all his "friends" here on Topix are going to go on and on about what a stand up citizen he was......
My heart does go out to his Family, regardless of the reason, a loss is a loss, and it affects those left here.

96 comments, really? Got a life? Happy now that you have a name to go with all your petty little comments? Maybe you should have asked your husband, the police officer, what his name was if you were so curious.
Mantrell was/is a great guy and he had many, many friends, and yep, we're going to tell it...

The sad part is, he wouldn't have even been taken to jail for the driving under suspension. Of course, if he didn't have a CCW permit he would be booked for the gun but definitly not for a suspended license.

Actually he could have been arrested for the suspended license the same thing happen to my husband and I had to go down and bail him out.

Yes he would have been arrested for it but barring any other unusual circumstances(gun for example), he probably would have been released on a summons.

Probably just as well. If he didn't...the court cost surely would have!

Just so you all know, this was not some gang banger. He was a high school star athlete, high school and University of Tennesee graduate, father, son and friend. He had a professional career, and did not have any criminal history. Those of you who label him just because he is a black man, fail to realize that he grew up in a suburb and was merely in Columbus for work. We may never know why he supposedly shot himself, but the loss of this man for his friends, family and community will be unbearable.

Traffic violations, driving with a suspended driving licence..(these 2 'deeds' don't fit the profile of a "Great man") and that he killed himself! That's what I have read.
We don't have to be anywhere: that's why we read and watch the news!

10 to 1 it was do to the fact that the poor man was in the system called Child Support. Don't we live in a beautiful country? You go Ohio, ask yourself why so many people leave this state on a daily basis.
So us a Visitation enforcement Agency.

That is so sad that a man died and you people talk about him like you knew him or like his life was nothing. I feel bad for you and i feel even worst for the people that are in your lives and that even know you. I know my opinion doesn't mean a thing but it would be nice if people cared more about them selves and opinions of themselves. Someone lost their life, children lost their dad, parents lost their child and his siblings lost a brother. You people get on here an talk like there is nobody is crying for him. This shows how bad the world really is and it makes me sad that no one cares about a persons life anymore. He was a good guy and will be missed.

There is very few suspensions that you can go to jail for. It is the more serious suspensions, such as Driving under OVI suspension, that you can go to jail for. Its not like you dont know your license is suspended. Most of the time you dont physically have a license. If you follow the law a license suspension wont be an issue. Also Im sure Columbus PD has a lot better things to do than take someone who is driving under suspension to jail, he probably would have gotten a ticket.
