Amen Amy, I agree with you. People should stop trashing these church members and focus on trashing the UPC and their crooked pastors.

YOU all should be ashamed. and u know God will get u for that as well.. I hope u all believe in KARMA CAUSE IT IS REAL AND IT WILL HAPPEN. may not be in the peoples time that u r hurting but in God's. and I feel sorry for ya'll.

No need to trash the UPC,crooked pastors, or the church members. By their actions they have trashed themselves. It's time to take out the trash.

Your posting is somewhat confusing. Are you Buddhist or Hindu ? As Karma is not a Christian concept unless Christianity has recently adopted the belief of reincarnation. Are you going to be a plant or an animal in the next life? Anybody that has had to deal with UPC members etc has already been punished (or as you put it "got"). Though, I don't think that God was the one that got them. He gets blamed for a lot of $#it that he doesn't do.

I am sorry to say that my former husband was and still is a UPC Pastor. He abused me severely and then he told many lies to cover it up. I honestly have never met a man so dishonest as him.
I finally left UPC when I left my husband because there was virtually no accountalbity. It was honestly like a "good boys club" . I do not understand how they can say they have "full truth" and yet I have met many many dishonest people among them. You know, that just doesn't add up, does it?
I don't want any nasty comments please. I am still healing from many years of terrible abuse at the hands on this so called "man of God" I have learned that there is a huge difference between a true relationship with God vs. religious and all of it control. Jesus came to set us free, not dictate to us how we are supposed to live. God is love and perfect love casts out fear, yet UPC is constantly instilling terrible fear in their people as a way to keep them controlled. However, the Bible says that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and a sound mind. So much of the UPC teaching is really contrary to the Word of God. Again, PLEASE no nasty email. I have been on both sides and I know that UPC is a very messed up religious system that needs serious accountability.
May God bless all those who have left wounded and are in the healing process.

I am also very sorry to say that many many in UPC are some of the meanest people I have ever met and many others have said that as well. Where is the love?

I still love the Lord and attend a church of another denomination that has been a whole lot more safe.

Thank you for your candid remarks. Unfortunately, your situation is not unique. It is but the tip of the iceberg, when it comes to the hidden evil that is so pervasive among UPC ministers. As I have said before, there are only two types of ministers that can be content to remain in the UPC. Those who do wrong and those who can turn a blind eye to wrongdoing.

Can you tell me you refereed to the poster "true friend" as "Michael Diemer"? I have seen a poster under the name "true friend" on other sites discussing this topic and was wondering if it was Michael Diemer and if and how you might know this.

I appreciate the help, Have a great day!

of all wrongdoings, I think we all need to keep Dan Monk's family in our prayers as I understand his wife collapsed after the sentencing and died shortly thereafter. I feel certain she died of a broken heart. Maybe God took her as he knew her pain was too much for her to bear.

We should also keep the victim and her family in our prayers as well.

Yes I agree this family needs prayers. But, why on earth would Dans wife have her 82 yr old mother in the courtroom with her considering that her son in law is a animal?? I understand that Gina needed support but, why not get a friend or someone from her "church", not a fragile sweet woman that really didnt need the stress of this, and if Dan wouldnt of had sex with that child, Ginas mother might be alive today. No one will ever know but 82 yr olds are fragile enough let alone making them watch and listen to the evil things her son in law did.

I agree with you "imagine it". I am finding it hard to believe that his wife stood by his side; let alone his mother-in-law! Gina must be a very strong woman to be enduring all this. I feel for her and her children. I hope she finds a man that will care for her as she deserves to be cared for. I am sure that is what her mother would wish for her as well!
To Gina, it could have happened to any of us women as we never really know who we are living with or married to. We can only hope they are the person we believe them to be. I know this will change your life significantly and I can only hope that it changes it for the better. God Bless! You are in my prayers.

The core problem that created this Daniel Monk case is being overlooked. That is the fact that the majority of the ministers in Monk's former church fellowship, The United Pentecostal Church, have neither the education or the training to counsel anyone.

Many people see a pastor and assume that he or she has some accredited degree or training. That is not always the case, especially in Pentecostal churches. Many of these pastors decided that they have a calling to be a minister and started preaching. Many are blue collar workers that decided being a minister was better than working a real job.

When these self-anointed, uneducated, pastors, usurp the position of a mental health professional, it is the most outrageous form of malpractice. I have seen them destroy many a family with their misguided advice. Unfortunately, this Daniel Monk case is not unique. A number of pastors have fallen into affairs with women they were attempting to council. This would not be happening if they were not pretending to be a professional counselor in the first place.

I sincerely hope that this young woman and her family file a lawsuit against Monk and his former UPC church fellowship. Their pretense of being professional counselors is tantamount to practicing medicine without a license. Someone needs to take them to court and put a stop to this.

I agree with you wholeheartedly on this . Incidently this is not the first time that Monk has screwed around on his wife. There was a major cover-up by other certain UPC officials, on at least one other affair that Monk had. He is a cocky, condescending jerk. This mess is only the tip of his iceberg. Look at his prison photo, this is not a man who thinks that he did wrong or who gives a damn about his actions. This UPC bunch needs to get their heads out of their butts and start holding their leadership accountable.

Now all the people that claimed Dans innocence and put others down can eat thier words. And the "Insanity" claim, Im glad the judge seen through that because yes, this wasnt his first time.
