I hope they lose at least 2 of the first 5 games. All I heard for two years on the radio was "Pete Carroll is a crook; Reggie Bush is a crook."

Funny... the only person who admitted that Tressel and the Black Five were crooks was Bruce Hooley, and he lost his job.

I'm finally tired of justifying Jim Tressel's lack of control over this program. Put the "indiscretions" side by side to Jon Cooper and see who has more "lack of control." Andy Geiger, Mr. SPENDSPENDSPEND, should have been a man and said, "We're tired of losing to Michigan and crappy bowl teams." THAT...spells the difference here, and the country knows it.

I've read rumors that ESPN is doing another story about the buckeyes does anyone know anything about it?

Getting back on topic (which is the woes of the offense in yesterday's scrimmage), I am not sure if this comes as much of a surprise to anyone. The defense is often ahead of the offense at this point and this can only be compounded when the line is patched together and the starting QB is in street clothes trying to help the 2nd through 5th string players-none of whom have any real experience-who will be filling in at his position during the suspension.

I don't think it is time to throw in the towel yet, but a dose of realism might be in order here. This season had the potential to be more challenging before the controversy hit the fan simply by virtue of replacing so many starters and it became more difficult as a result of the 5 game suspensions. OSU will have a QB under center with little or no real game experience to start the season. The O line typically struggles early and lost some stalwarts in Boren and Browning. The defense will be good and there are talented players to fill the holes, but there could still be some leaks. Add Tressel's situation into that mix.

I am happy if they win 9 this year and finish second in their division. A 10 win year and I would be thrilled. It could be an interesting season.

I have to agree with you, Steve. I am amazed (not sure why) when I read posts from fellow Buckeye zealots who really believe this team can run the table and play for a NC this year. Hey, more power to them and I don't want to rain on the parade. But with 40 plus years of Buckeye fandom under my belt and only two NCs even in the "best of times" to show for it, I can't see it happening this year in what are certainly not the best of times. A ten win season has now become our birthright and it's a stretch this year.

And to you, IP....cute name. You must be six. To compare what Tressel did (and the "tat5") to USC and allegedly what Auburn did to secure Cam Newton, is well, a bit naive. Naive, yes, that is a polite word.

So if the offense had scored often, the story this morning would be "Defense has a long way to go". Too early to panic, on either side of the ball. More concerned about special teams. Does anyone know how to kick a pointy ball??

It's also the wrong word, Doug. With 50 years of fandom under this belt, and two OSU degrees, I'd say IP is anything but naive and fairly accurately reflects the attitudes of a growing number of Buckeye fans in Columbus and across the country.

I realize that Kool-Aid is refreshing, my friend, but it likely won't be served in the boardroom of the NCAA anytime soon. To think otherwise is, well, naive.

You are right...to compare what Tressel and the Tatto 5 did is naive...what the coach of The oLIEo State University did was worse!!! Just to put money in his pocket by getting wins......much mush worse that what USC did or what Auburn did...wait...the NCAA cleared Auburn....and USC is paying right now and I do predict The oLIEo State University will get it worse.....bunch of liars and fakes up in the hood on North High Street!!!!

I just hope the Grim Reaper doesn't pay a visit to the 2010 season in the form of vacated wins.

As the last 2 seasons proved Final Fours aren't so easy to come by. I really lose interest in college sports as a fan knowing that games aren't really over until the NCAA statute of limitations passes.

I thought that OSU's ND alum AD should have fought harder to save the 1999 BB season. The best argument against vacating FB wins is that the 5 players were allowed to play in the bowl game and they have done nothing else wrong. The punishment is the 5 game suspension. The coach will get his deserved final suspension ruling and maybe there will be scholarships reductions.

Oh gee ... the offense didnt score any touch downs in March either ..... anyone who knows football should know that the O is always late in blooming.
I mean when has the O ever looked good for us the 2nd week of Spring practice ? Give it time ... Everyone is expecting miracles this earl and it just isnt going to happen. I feel we will be quite surprised come Sept. Until then ....

On the Paul Finebaum(SEC based)show Friday on XM, the word was that Rivals has a story coming out Monday about more issues/dirt at Auburn. However, outside of the Columbus fishbowl, most people think we have a lame duck coach in JT and that it's just a matter of when he goes.

Hope not because his comment about the "b**** five" was rather racist.

The players got their punishment. They now have 7 games left in their OSU career. The continued public scrutiny and condemnation the players still get far exceeds any violation, especially since players have been selling their complimentary tickets for decades.

I do agree that next season is going to get ugly, especially on offense. Bring on Urban in 2012.

Forget Miller for now as no young, new QB has ever taken a football team anywhere. And sorry, but Bauserman has never done anything of significance on the football field.

My Lord, everyone Buckeye fan knows that Tressel is going will select the QB who turns it over the least and will rely on the running game. The problem however is that in first five games the Buckeyes will see a nothing but 9 in the box and defenses daring OSU to throw. Even the best running games canít do much with that.

And we havenít even started to talk about a rebuilt defense that not only will have their own problems with diverse offenses, but one that is bound break down because they are on the field so long due to the inept offense.

Face the facts here folks, this year and even next will be growth years. The Buckeyes will be extremely lucky to finish 8-4 in each.

It's spring time and a spring game. Don't know if the defense is really that good or the offense is really that bad. Or both are terrible. Still have a few months to find out.

It is going to be an interesting seaon. I believe we will be in the news every week.

If we deserve it, so be it.....
The NCAA will do their thing.
Then the innocent at tOSU, who ever they are, will do their thing.

Not everyone at OSU is guilty but I believe the sorting out is in process. Let's remember, there is a panel called the Board of Trustee's(?) that is over the AD and President of OSU.

I will support the Buckeyes and let who ever sort out the guilty and proper punishment.

Lets remember, we have a lot of innocent kids who are taking the blame for the few (?).

And the Soap Oprey continue.

Well I am not surprised some of you people can't stick to the subject of the article. Many teams in the big ten have offenses that are behind their defenses right now. It is only April. I think this team will be fine come September. There were a lot of dropped passes by the receivers since there were 4 quarterbacks throwing passes. It will take time for the receivers and the eventual starting QB to get the timing down. We will get a better feel for this team next Saturday, but it is still a work in progress. I hope there is good weather for the spring game on the 23rd. Yesterday was a horrible for teams that had their spring games.

I don't think there will be any scholly deductions because there wasn't any recruiting violations. Worst case scenario: 2010 season vacating, Tress suspended for the whole season and a bowl ban for a year or two.
