I'm walking, early in the morning, to another building when out of the bushes, right next to the sidewalk out walks a skunk, literally next to me. I scream @#!#@! and hop some hedges to get away from it...the dam rodent starts chasing me and at one point got close enough to try and spray. I outrun him, get to the door and it's locked, ugh! grab my keys, put the wrong key in the lock, freaking out, finally get in the building. I'm on the second floor scouting out where my nemesis meandered to so I can get back to my office. See nothing, okay it's safe... decide to take an arc route back to my office as to avoid stinky as opposed to a direct route. The f'er spots me and starts chasing me again. I think I could have beat Bolt in the 100 yard dash at that moment. Good fodder at the office that the reason I took so long to get back to my building was that I happened to be outrunning a skunk. Thank goodness it was early enough that there was no one at that part of campus to watch my cartoon antics. You can have your skunks Spooks!

Two roadkill skunks have appeared near my home in the past couple of days. Spring has sprung early in skunk world, I guess.

Please no! We have plenty of them wandering around. I thought they hibernated? No clue, not a skunk expert including the fact of how fast they can run.

Following up on tips reply in the same post...apparently not as fast as a car :)

When sweetcorn season comes again I think I will catch mine and and keep it with the cats. They seem to get along already. And nothing says stay the hell out like a guard skunk.

Hmmmm, how so?(I dare to ask.) We have a skunk shortage here on the mideastern shore. I hardly ever see or smell one anymore.

Yes, Glitter, they are out all winter, but usually nocturnal if I'm not mistaken. Was it a mangy looking, perhaps rabid skunk?

Groundhogs hibernate.

Skunks are not seen much in the day. Glitters skunk was early morning pre daylight

Opossums have those paws that can grip and climb and peep in windows.
