This dump truck drivers they think they are above the traffic laws. I have witness these **** runing red lights at rt 257 and 42..at the light in 42 and 757...and also in 42and section line rd..they don't have respect for other small vehicles or bicycle riders..they should get their license suspended and put to jail everytime they run a red light ,I don't have any respect for these rednecks driving their dump trucks..My self I am going to patrol these intersections on my day off that I have three in a row and I will turn in these stupids selfish drivers...I hope they all read this because I will turn them in with the delaware cops or highway patrol....we need to stop these negligent drivers before they hurt anyone else.....
Why just put the truckers in jail for runnin red light's. Put everyone who run's red light's in jail. I see MORE Car's run red light's.

I agree that the real concern is for those injured - but these dump trucks are a menace to the whole area and I am sick of seeing and hearing their obnoxious noises. Whether the truck was wrong or not - their size and speed is inappropriate for many of the roads they are taking in southern Delaware and northern Franklin counties. They are worried about making good time - not the disruption and danger they present on roads not apropriate for such huge vehicles.

Anyone that has lived in the area for any length of time knows these trucks travel these routes thanks to ODT, there is no other route they can take to get where they need to go. And if you just recently moved to the area then you need to complain to your realtor as they are suppose to disclose this fact to any person interested in purchasing a home in the area. Not sure what desruption they cause they are just making a living like the majority of us, they have families and bills the same as us. So put your big girl and/or panties on and quit whinning, this accident wasn't the truckers fault I am sure he is living his own hell right now I know I sure would be. Just keep your thoughts and prayers on the man and little boy who are fighting for their lives at this moment as well as the wife/mother as I am sure she to is living her own hell, I lost a son so I can only imagine what she is feeling at this moment with her child so seriously injured. Time to give everyone a break and just pray for all of them

My prayers are with all the families involved. I am disraught over the accident and do not even know the family. I have a four year old and could not imagine. Obviously you do not have children or are a very angry dsiturbed person. People are soooo insentive. A husband/father and a childs life hangs in the balance. Knock it off people who cares. If you have nothing nice to type then keep your fingers still. I have lost loved ones in an accident both not their falut and their fault and it does not change the grief felt. So please if you have a heart stop and pray for this child and father and all involved in this tramatic accident. I cant not find the updated conditions today, so can someone please keep posting conditions of child and father.

This is a dangerous intersection. My husband and I were involved in an almost fatal accident in 1987 when a pickup truck going S turned left into the gas station as we were going N twrd Del. The dump trucks drivers have a job to do and I have never been behind one that was going to fast...it is usually someone trying to get around them rather than waiting for their turn.
I think fault at this point is mute, My wife happens to belong to this family which makes it mine, i know these people and our prayers are with them and the others affected.

Thanks for updating about the conditions of the two people in the accident. My heart goes out to that family (all) who are going through this at this time. My prayers are with you all and hoping that precious child will be ok as well as the father. I have a six year old son and I know so many times I've become distracted in the car by him (not saying this is the case) but reflecting that this could have happened to anyone. God Bless

I was standing in the front of Kennys store and first on the seen. The driver of the ford ran the red light and the driver of the dump truck tried to stop. He also turned to avoid with could explain why they lived.Hit more to the front of the car The boy in the back seat should of had his seat belt on, he would not of been pinned on the rear floor board and out of site untill the door was removed. The dump truck could not of been doing on 30 mph if that.I prayed for them and the family that was just going to the zoo.I belive 7 of them. thank god the baby was in a car seat correctly. I hope every one heals. this was a very bad accident for every one.

I truly agree Scott. Christopher and Adam are my family. It makes me sick to see everyone making judgements about either drivers. Were any of you there? So you really don't have a right to judge.
I hope you will all take the same amount of time it took you to comment on this article to say a prayer for Christopher and Adam. They are not out of the woods yet and can use all the prayers they can get! And please say prayers for Chris' wife and daughter. Can you even begin to imagine how they are feeling right now?

I would also like to add my concern for everyone involved. Now is not the time to point fingers, but a time to pray and be thankful for the lives each one of us has. My husband was also in an accident this week. It was only a minor fender bender but could have been worse. We all know how quickly accidents happen. I know the driver of that Fusion would never intentionally risk the life of his child or anyone else. Let's please pray for their speedy recovery.

To Mr. Realist--The Highway Patrol has already stated that ALL safety belts were in use. No reason to spread your rumors.

And I want to thank collegeprof for providing today's entertainment with his essay on how much better the drivers are in West Virgina. I've lived in Delaware County for over 25 years and they don't drive any different here than they do anywhere else. We're living in the fastest growing county in the state. The roads here are many times more crowded than they used to be.

The intesection at Section Line and 42 is so dangerous because Route 42 intersects Section Line at an angle. That's probably why Mr. Realist thinks the truck swerved right. It was already entering the intersection at an angle. That's what ODOT needs to change--that is if they ever get around to it.

So Mr. Realist--go ahead and pray for the people in the van--I'm going to pray for Chris and Adam.
