There are more extensive discussions, but these are a good place to begin.
Take a hike. I've read Sagan, considerably.

So? How is that "immoral" if the Church teachings say BEING a lesbian ISN'T a SIN?

You keep going on and on about what the contract says. I'm pointing out that the Church is not following the law (they have that 'religious exemption' in the BUSINESS CONTRACT they have with the city of Columbus). Fine by me.

BUT>>>>

The Church teaches that it's the ACT of same sex that is immoral.

Now unless you're trying to convince the courts that an obituary is the same thing as cunnilingus..........

Carla Hale did not ACT in an immoral way under what the Church SAYS it teaches about gays and lesbians.

It's clear that what the Church SAYS it believes in and what the Church DOES with those teachings are two opposites.

um a little thing about separation of church and state

The government has so far not intervened when it is a matter of doctrine

There, you've got the Cliff Notes on the matter.

Now, read the threads, learn what's been discussed, and if you have something new or intelligent to add, then come back.

You're dismissed.

Since I'm already off topic somewhat allow me to also address a previous post of yours. Thank you for your help in my defense when I was ridiculed for posting an article that mentioned H.L. Mencken. The respondent simply focused on Mencken name and ridiculed me because of the man he was; completely ignoring the fact I was actually quoting an article by Davidson Loehr.
You and I both know Mencken was a real piece of work. I hope you found that respondent's snarky reply to me as ironic as I did considering Mencken was the Rush Limbaugh of his day!
Just as Irenaeus was of HIS day.

Physical education teacher Carla Hale says she was fired from Bishop Watterson High School a week after the posting of her mother's obituary, which listed Hale's female partner as her spouse.

“I’m not ashamed, and my mom loved Julie, and Julie loved my mom; she should have been included as all other family,” Hale said.

I think you might just need to shut up and learn.
You didn't find the high school in Charity Navigator, it is NOT listed there, because it is PART of the diocese, run by the diocese.
HOLD ON THERE SUNSHINE

The High school IS listed. it's listed as a TAX paying enterprise you dolt!

Charity Navigator lists EVERY organization that files for Tax Exempt Status with the IRS (The Form 990 I listed in my post)

<quoted text>Again, your argument is? Your posts reflect to me someone completely unwilling to listen and prefer just to argue your own position.
BTW, I was educated for 12 years in Catholic schools. Not here, elsewhere. However, the schools did fire even heteros for indulging in what they deemed "immoral" behavior--adultery, affairs, etc. Unless you're willing to ignore this fact, extramarital sex is always deemed immoral by the Catholic Church. Note that "extramarital sex" in this context is not preceded by any modifier: "gay", "straight," etc.
I never disputed any of that in the first place and I don't now.

<quoted text>Go have yourself a good time by reading this thread from the TOP and another one related to it here. Much of the Catholic Church's stance is explained there as well as some of the background.
FYI I was about to post this story myself when a friend sent it to me but I saw it was already up. Since that day I haven't skipped reading a single post so far.

The Catholic Church's STANCE on gays and lesbians is we are fine if we remain celibate. We may NOT marry. But we can be good Catholics and good employees. Heck we EVEN serve as Priests and Nuns! As long as the vow of chastity is maintained a gay priest isn't "sinning" or "immoral".

Why is Carla being held to a higher standard than Priests and Nuns?

And since the Church says it's OK to be Gay just don't do anything about it, how is listing a "family friend" in an obituary "immoral CONDUCT"?

Hale said that putting her partner’s name in the obituary seemed like right decision at the time.

“My mom really loved Julie and Julie loved my mom, and as I sat there with my brother, you know, it was like, his wife was mentioned, my niece’s husband was mentioned,” she explained.“So, why not? Why not the person I love?”

As you can plainly see, Ms. Hale is not being held to a higher standard.
She herself publicly equates her relationship with her partner to a marriage relationship.

Go away.
Like Ms. Hale.

Hold on there, sweetcheeks. I didn't check Charity Navigator. That I will admit. I believed that due to it as part of the diocese, it would not be listed.

But...you didn't address the issues of separation of church and state, which is a founding principal of this nation. Thus far, the government has not intervened when it is a matter of doctrine.

Look, you are free to bash whatever you want to bash. But remember, this case will be decided on law, not your emotional rants. Catholic doctrine teaches that gay sex is wrong. Period. It is a part of the doctrine. Whether you like that idea is not is, bottom line--IRRELEVANT.
