This is a church and not a private enterprise and has the constitutional prerogative to live by the tenets of its faith. If the teacher wants to acknowledge a gay partner, perhaps he should seek employment in a public school. Churches should have the right to insist that its members and employees follow and not flout the tenets. If this were a public school, he would have the right to sue.
I agree, but I also find it suspicious that this occurred just shy of 20 yrs.

Maybe he kept it quiet for that long. Just a speculation and I will qualify it as such.

Mom died at an inconvenient time. Read the story. And it's a "she" not a "he."

That appears to have reinforced my theory that she kept it hidden for all that time.

Of course she did. She signed a contract every year promising to live by the rules set down by the diocese. She would have cruised until she retired if not for the obituary. Hell, everyone could figure she was gay...just look at her. But that's not enough to get in trouble. The obit was.

What does someones personal/private life have to do with their employment? The teacher had 19 years with that school?!....discrimination is wrong.

Appearances can be deceiving. Some of the most masculine looking men can be flaming gays while some of the most feminine acting men can be straight as hell. There are some women who look like hairless gorillas who are totally straight while some very dainty women can be out and out lesbians.

What part of "Catholic teachings" and "contract" don't you understand?

Should she have been fired for not fulfilling, say, "the Easter duty"?

If it were a taxpayer funded school, I would agree with you. The Constitution guarantees the right of citizens and churches to freely exercise their religion and if the Catholic Church thinks an employee's behavior is detrimental to the Church in any way, they should have the right to respond as they deem fit. The government has no right to tell a church how to run its affairs.

Queer women have as many ways to get pregnant as they have excuses for getting an abortion.

As many people recognize, women frequently change their mind, and their fickleness extends to queerness. Queer women, especially young queer women, will flit and experiment between straight, lesbian, bi-sexual, beastiality, and transvestite fads and hysteria. As an example, some college bimbos refer to their queer phase as GUG, Gay- Until-Graduation.

Shysters lie when they claim queer women do not get pregnant.

Queer women can get pregnant via many methods, including conventional, test-tube, 3rd party turkey baster donation, sperm bank, gang bang, surrogates, rape, and birth control accidents.

It is a fact that lesbians are the loudest and most strident advocates of elective abortion ideology on the planet earth. Lesbians are the most strident because they are hardcore perverts, believing fervently that their convenience and gratification are more important than saving innocent human life.

Queer women demand an elective abortion to solve their poor life choices, and will claim they are the real victims, and not the innocent child they choose to kill.

The national victim cult, which queers and Diversity people use to enforce their ideology, is psychotic and must be taken seriously because it dominates national elections.

In case anybody hasn't noticed, the vast majority of elected officials in this country are still white, heterosexual males.

Quote, "..Hale’s sexual orientation became public when an obituary for her late mother published Hale’s name along with the name of her female partner, Julie. An anonymous parent sent a letter to Hale’s employer, Bishop Watterson High School in Columbus, Ohio, complaining about Hale’s presence on staff..."
Is that all? That makes as much sense as witch-hunting.

A good example of why children shouldn't be segregated according to the religious delusions of their parents.

Religion = superstition. It's divisive and outdated.

It's not a church. It's a school. A business.

There are a lot of closet queers in national lawmaking postions.

The victim cult includes all of these classes of people...

women
queers (including closet queers)
jewish
hispanic & latino
disabled (including military veterans)
asian (including indians and pakistani)
afro-americans
native americans

Over 80 percent of the voting populace in the US and Israel are victim cultists. Israel goes beyond the 80 percent by allowing expatriot and diaspora jewish to vote in Israeli elections.
