I'll have to agree with Cory Truax and...(gasp!)...Andrew Sullivan on these special-rights laws:
TRUAX:
Itís Unconstitutional
The 14th Amendment of a sparely-considered document, The United States Constitution, guarantees equal protection under the law. Laws of this sort contravene both the essence of the Declaration of Independenceóall men are created equalóand the expressed language of the Constitution. These laws value the life of a 22-year old, able-bodied homosexual male over that of your elderly grandmotheróunless, of course, your grandmother is a lesbian.
Furthermore, giving jurisdiction of one certain type of crime to the federal government should send those who revere the 10th Amendment into a rage. In every way, hate crimes laws are not just bad ideas: theyíre bad law.
The Reasoning
Do any readers think we NEED an amendment to prevent hate crimes against the LGBT community? Really? Are you seeing the mass persecution of gays ANYWHERE? Anywhere at all?
This law isnít about "protecting" homosexuals. Itís about the Left pandering to a small but money-laden and activist faction in their party.
Itís Unenforceable
Iíd like to hear this amendmentís proponentsí idea on how to determine what crime is a hate crime. How is an officer of the law or an officer of the court supposed to ascertain that this particular act was committed out of hatred?
In that vein, I must ask, "Isnít any crime a hate crime?" Iím fairly sure that the murders that take place after husbands come home earlier than expected are perpetrated out of hatred. Should we then enact laws to protect adulterers from hate?
Even with the entire Justice Department working on it, I canít surmise the scenario where we find indisputable evidence that someone committed an act of violence out of hate."
SULLIVAN:
"The real reason for hate crime laws is not the defense of human beings from crime. There are already laws against that Ė and Matthew Shepardís murderers were successfully prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law in a state with no hate crimes law at the time.
The real reason for the invention of hate crimes was a hard-left critique of conventional liberal justice and the emergence of special interest groups which need boutique legislation to raise funds for their large staffs and luxurious buildings."
Thatís pretty damning coming from him.
And you began opposing Hate Crime laws when?

When they first covered only race and religion? Was it just race? Or just religion? When they began protecting policemen and firemen?

Or is it just since they started being applied to groups you don't like and want to eliminate?

You are such a hypocrite. You rage when ever the church is attacked or questioned in any way, claiming it's a great conspiracy and religious persecution of "true christians". Yet when it comes to the true mark of a true Christian (compassion and forgiveness) you have none and gleefully join the mobs ready to burn the heretics!
Repentance must precede forgiveness.
Leftists conveniently omit that fact.

Psalm 7:11-16

God is a righteous judge,
and a God who feels indignation every day.
If a man does not repent, God will whet his sword;
he has bent and readied his bow;
he has prepared for him his deadly weapons,
making his arrows fiery shafts.

Behold, the wicked man conceives evil
and is pregnant with mischief
and gives birth to lies.
He makes a pit, digging it out,
and falls into the hole that he has made.
His mischief returns upon his own head,
and on his own skull his violence descends.

Matthew 4:17

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying,ďRepent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.Ē

Luke 13:3

[Jesus]: "No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish."

Luke 17:3-4

[Jesus]: "Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him, and if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, saying,'I repent,' you must forgive him."

All crime is hate crime.

And for someone spouting on about equality, you should understand the phrase "equality under the law" -- all U.S. citizens enjoy the same rights and remedies under the law; no one deserves special treatment under the law -- to be set apart as a protected class.

First off, it's not a fact, it is a CLAIM. The idea that people have to jump through hoops or beg forgiveness from God is NOT shared by many Christians. God's grace is perfect and complete, you don't have to ask for it.

And it has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with the conversation at hand, because a person CANNOT "repent" of being gay, for two very key reasons.

One, there is no such thing as a "former homosexual." A person CANNOT change their sexual orientation.

And two, and even more important, homosexuality IS NOT A SIN.

Not one of you has condemned the pro-pedophilia statements.
Therefore, your self-righteous rants against the homosexual sex-offender priests are moot.

"The common ground for the LGBT liberation and the reproductive justice movements has a long and rich history even though we have often been strategically divided. Reproductive freedom was a lynchpin of the modern feminist movement of the 1960s and 1970s. New contraceptives and reproductive technologies liberated women from unwanted pregnancy as a consequence of heterosexual sex. When women could take control of their reproductive destinies, they also had more control over their own sexual pleasure. The freedom and legitimacy of sexual activity without reproduction as an outcome is as fundamental to the liberation of LGBT people as it is to heterosexual women and their male partners."
The most strident advocates of elective abortion are lesbians and other queers.
NOBODY "advocates" elective abortions. We advocate FREEDOM, CHOICE. And no, liar, the most enthusiastic supporters of reproductive CHOICE are NOT all gay people (or whatever slur you may choose to use for them) UNLIKE you I actually know plenty of pro-choice people and have worked for reproductive freedom for many years, and very few gay people are actively involved. They have lowlifes like you fighting to pass Jim Crow laws to keep discrimination against them alive, they have more important places to put their political activism.

By the way, the repentance is not for "being" something or other -- seeing as all are sinners.
It is for "doing" something or other.

One's actions condemn them.
God specifically condemns homosexual behaviors, just as he condemns sex outside of marriage.

Forgiveness requires repentance and abstaining from such sinful actions.

Here's another one for you:
The editor of The Guide, Ed Hougen, stated in an interview with
Lambda Report, "I believe they [NAMBLA] are generally interested in
the right of young people to be sexual .... I am glad there is a group like NAMBLA that is willing to be courageous."
The San Francisco Sentinel was more blunt: "NAMBLAís position on sex is not unreasonable, just unpopular.[W]hen a 14 year old gay boy approaches a man for sex, itís because he wants sex with a man."
Wow. You just proved the editor of "The Guide" agrees with an article from the San Fransisco Sentinel about NAMBLA.

Brilliant. Now if only this was on topic to the thread.....and not some typical dodge used to muddy the waters when you know you've painted yourself into a corner....

I oppose NAMBLA too. The thing is I'm not as obsessed with child sex as you and the RCC seem to be.

Romans 1

They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator -- who is forever praised. Amen.

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. Although they know Godís righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

I Corinthians 6

Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Pot Pourri--
"If the question is whether I am queer, the answer is no."

Who cares? A bigot is a bigot, latant or otherwise.

"As I already stated, if you do queer, you are queer."

Proving, again, your incredible ignorance on the subject. If someone is gay because they, as you so childishly put it, "do queer," what were they yesterday? When they were 12?

A gay person has ALWAYS been gay. A gay virgin is gay. A gay person who is 97 and hasn't had sex in decades is still gay.

It has nothing to do with what anyone "does".

And PLENTY of people have had sex with people of the same sex and are not homosexual, for any number of reasons.

"f you do queer proclivities frequently, you are a flaming queer."

And there's not a damn thing wrong with that.

"If you promote queer proclivities as a legal privilege,"

It isn't a "privilege," it's a right and even the US Supreme Court, stacked by the far right for many years, has confirmed it IS a right.

"as many queers do through their national victim cult scheme,"

Contrary to the BS from hate groups that you stupidly swallow, this isn't a scheme. That gay people ARE the victims of hate, discrimination, violence and bigotry is proven every single day. And you seem determined to be as big a part of that as you can.

"you are a queer scumbag shyster."

No, the scumbags are Nazi vermin like yourself promoting hate and lies. There's nothing "shyster" about EQUALITY, which is ALL anyone is asking.

"When you stop doing queer things, you cease to be queer."

Wow, are you STUPID. No, moron, you do not. A gay person will be gay their entire life.

"Queers have convinced many people, especially women and rednecks, that queer proclivities are virtues and that sodomy is sex."

NOBODY claims being gay is a "virtue," idiot. And what you hatefully and stupidly call "sodomy" IS sex.

"Crack a high school biology text and set yourself free."

You obviously slept or drank your way through high school, and have no clue what the most basic facts of human sexuality are. Yes, what you call "sodomy" IS sex.

I'm shocked that the LGBTQIABCDEF community is not defending the priests, their homosexual brethren, who are merely "expressing their natural sexual orientation":
BLK, a leading black homosexual publication, defended pedophilia with an article entitled, "Must Men Who Love Boys Be Guilty of Sexual Misconduct?"
San Franciscoís leading homosexual newspaper, The Sentinel, bluntly editorialized, "The love between man and boys is at the foundation of homosexuality."
You're awfully quiet about these quotations from mainstream homosexual mags....
In other words, had the adult-child sex offenders not been associated to the Catholic Church, we would have heard nothing from Leftist World. Similar to the Dirkhising story. When your standard religiously-unaffiliated homo commits a dastardly sexual offense....crickets.
"The love between man and boys is at the foundation of homosexuality."
