So let me get this straight: You want the anonymous letter-writer to leave you their number, so you can call and explain that you park over the line because you're too fat to get out of your oversized truck? I'm sure you want to pleasantly explain that to them, too, right?

Here's an idea.. In all the (I'm assuming) years that you've spent learning how to back that behemoth into a parking space to accomodate your girth, you could have lost weight and pulled into the parking space normally, like so many of us take for granted.

You can have your special extra wide parking spots on two conditions.

1) They don't exist at fast food restaurants.

and

2) As opposed to handicap spaces which are as close to the door as possible, these spaces must be as far away from the door as possible to encourage you to walk more.

"So, to the green-marker-toting note writer - and anyone else who leaves anonymous notes - let's remember what our mamas said: "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."

After all, you might not know the circumstances."

Are you kidding me?

Unless you qualify for handicap parking, you have to play by the rules and park like everyone else. I think it best you either lose some weight or drive a smaller car. Maybe you could pay extra for an accommodating space if the garage works with you. But your weight isn't everyone else's problem and I cannot believe the audacity of saying that we need to think twice before judging a car parked badly or using two spaces. This is one of the most self-centered articles I have read yet, you have no thought for the person who has to park next to you and how that person will get out of his car if you are on the line. We live in a society, Miss Vicki, and discourteous people are frowned upon as you rightfully were by the note about your habitually bad parking. That concept went right over your head. You are in the wrong so shame on you. I'm sure that note writer's next step will be speaking to the garage owner if you continue. I think you know darn well that if it's gone this far it is high time to do something about your weight problem.

I am very short and find challenges to the "normal world" everyday....for instance, I cannot reach the cups in the break room for coffee, I cannot use the weight machines properly in the gym where I work out, I even have trouble in the bathroom. So should I purposely alter my environment that affects others just so that it suits me? I have learned to adapt to obstacles just as you should.....buy a smaller vehicle or park in a different spot. The difference between you and me is that you CAN change your cirmcumstances by losing weight.

Actually, it is your choice to have the habits you have. Don't like that you bite your fingernails? Stop. Don't like that you smoke? Quit. Don't like that you're too big to fit between cars in the parking lot? Eat less, move more.

It may not be your choice to be overweight right now, but whether or not you do something about it is.

and how am i supposed to be more active? if it werent for my scooter i wouldn't be able to get out in public and halv the time i don't have enough space to get it out. if you people wasn't so narrow minded you may be able to eccept us for who we are!

and for the record i have tried to quit smoking for 2 years now. i just can't so its not always that easy

I didn't say anything about easy. I said it was your choice. Clearly you're not happy about your life, but you don't seem to want to do anything about it.

As for "barely getting by" on your disability checks? That's what you're supposed to do. Barely get by. You aren't working, so what makes you think you deserve better than "barely getting by"? Unless working is what gave you your disability, you deserve nothing more (and I'd love to hear how a job made you so fat you can't leave your home without a scooter). A conservative might suggest that if we cut off your food stamps maybe you'd eat less and lose enough weight to walk out your door.

If you're really so big that you can't get in and out of your car while parking it within a parking spot, then get a handicapped tag so you can park in a giant spot.

I hope the person who left you the note keys your car the next time you park on the line. You won't be complaining about a note then.

@Seriously - saved the handicapped parking spots for people who really need them.
I think the real message is getting lost in the mean spirited comments about weight. The issue is pure selfishness and no consideration for anyone else parking in the garage and her sense of entitlement.

Vicki was the one who asked us to consider her circumstances -that she is too big to get out of her car in a normal fashion. So it does revolve around her weight when it comes down to it. She wants us to be understanding of her obesity when it comes to parking her car inconsiderately and most here have an issue with that whole premise. Instead of the note being a wake-up call to Vicki that her weight is imposing on other people and that it's time she does something about it, she chides the note writer who had plainly had enough of her discourteous parking. Vicki needs to realize that wherever she chooses to park cannot turn into a personal handicap space for her. She also seems to insinuate that because there are a growing number of obese people, the world has to change to adapt to their size instead of losing some weight so she can adapt and function normally in the world. What she misses is that no one is going to sympathize with a self-imposed problem.

Perhaps the garage needs to install "Fat" spaces at the end of each row of parking so people likke Vicki can always park with one side of their vehicle away from otehr people, that way they can park on the line and no one cares. You could even install a sign saying "Fat people only: all other will be towed at owner's expense" and that way the people who park there might be shamed into loosing some weight.

I agree with all of that. I was just saying the mean comments, and there are obviously some that are mean only, would probably make it less likely for her to see what the real issues are.

Glad to see people were as annoyed as I was by this article. She's overweight, drives a monster truck, is rude to other people who have to park in the garage and she's irate because she received an unsigned note. The nerve of some people.
