Don't worry about AEP's profitablitity.
They can just add on to other charges - like the transmission charges.
Maybe they'll add on a "Competition Fee"?

I hate AEP. Does anyone know if there is an alternative in Grove City?

Isn't alternative kind of a misleading term? In essence aren't they are choosing a broker or a cooperative, who is actually still paying AEP? still sounds like a concealed monopoly to me.

I live where we have ONE electric company -- Buckeye Rural Electric Cooperative -- except there's nothing cooperative about them.
They're greedy, rude, and monopolistic. They know we have no choice but to join their cooperative, and we have to go along with whatever they want. The board is unreachable -- getting on the agenda to speak at a board meeting is close to impossible, especially if there's a point of contention.
And the rates are high -- very high.
They should not be called a cooperative. If they were a publicly-traded company, at least the PUCO would have a say. As it is, we're stuck with no protection at all.
I'd love to have AEP.
