One day last summer mrs. rowdy and I were eating lunch. I saw something moving on the deck, looked out the door and there was a groundhog looking in at us. Too funny!
Little bastatd was probably trying to figure a way to tunnel under the deck

Oh, you better believe it! My back porch is raised about 3'. The groundhogs moved under it when I moved into the house.
I was single and only had an indoor cat, so who cared? They were so used to me that I'd step on the porch and speak and they'd stand up on their hind legs and listen.
Then I got a Cheapeake Bay Retreiver and it still was no problem. Merrygirl wasn't a 'hunter.' I'd just let her out and let her roam. One week she brought me back an entire deer, piece by piece, obviously killed some other way. Then she had to be put to sleep after an injury in a car accident with me. We were rear ended and she went into the console and it tore up her spinal cord. Bad, bad, bad.
So somebody gave me this Shih Tzu, soon to be followed by the Lapso Apso (rescue dog) and they had a fence off of the porch because I couldn't let them roam.
The problems began. I was scared to death a groundhog would get a hold of one of them. I went out one day and the Shih Tzu and the groundhod were both on their hind legs, face to face, at the fence.

So we put a yard out front for the dogs, where the groundhogs can't tunnel under. Can't say it's lovely, but it works.
One thing I have found is that dead stink bugs, poured into the groundhog hole, deters them forever. They will NOT cross those stink bugs cadavers.

I know, Rowdy, I still owe you one.

Block the secondary hole and run a hose down the main entrance.

They come right back. Actually, they're not the problem now. It's the stink bugs.

O.K., guys. Now I'm putting the dogs in my car, looking at the smoking remains of my dynamited house, with multiple dead groundhogs fermenting and rotting, because spookerini told me to trap them and stuff the dead ones back in the hole AND use dynamite; while the bloated bodies float in the basement and foundation, which has flooded because Tip told me to block the secondary hole and put a running hose in the other one. Rowdy and Mrs. Rowdy are enjoying morning coffee on the patio (except for the occasional stink bug), watching the proceedings, while my husband drives away muttering something about 'any bullsh$t she hears on Topix.'

I have two immediate thoughts:

A) Maybe you've helped enough and
B) Does E Bob belong somewhere in this picture?

I'll just wait and get advice from Catman. But you've been great!

You need some explosives training. All you nead is a little bit. Cut the stick down so it is just enoigh to cover the blasting cap. Don't use nitro gel 20 pounders.

Huh? I'm supposed to know what that means?

Actually my husband is licensed for demolition with explosives, but I think it's been a long time since he's used them. He's been busy trying to trap groundhogs at night.:-/

They don't come back if you pop 'em with a 12 gauge.

Me? No, I'm innocent.

I say we blame either Spook or E Bob. Pick one and we'll stick with that story!:-)

Don't blame met I am a professional. Blowing up a house when going after groundhogs seems like a BATF operation.
