Yeah, Sunday dinner and conversation with Bill Ayers and his wife, a couple of bottles of wine and then flip on 60 minutes to see Morely Safer bop Ms. Palin on the nose with a rubber mallet...That sounds like a fine evening of fun and frivolity.
You wanna join in?

Well, O great worried one, that would be quite a feat if I must say so myself, as my parents have both already moved on to another realm several years ago.

Sure you don't wanna join us for dinner and sixty minutes? It would be a grand old time, and you have a chance to ask all sort of probing and pointed questions while we all chuckle during commercial breaks after watching Morely Safer wielding that big mallet.

I don't "despise" Ms. Palin. I just think she's a dolt, and a menace to society if elected to public office.

And I don't necessarily "admire" Mr. and Mrs. Ayers, but given their place in American history, I would think that a conversation about those events, and what they have done with their lives since then over dinner would be quite interesting.

Media Feeding Panic Over The So-Called ‘Knockout Game’ That Might Not Even Exist
http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2013/11/25/2...

By Annie-Rose Strasser on November 25, 2013 at 2:15 pm

A slew of stories has come out in recent weeks about a dangerous “game” that people, mostly kids, have started playing. It involves the game-player punching someone in the face, unprovoked, with the goal of knocking out their victim. It’s called, say media outlets,“the knockout game.”

There’s just one problem, though: It might not be real.

Panic over the knockout game seems to have grown after a local news report in Jersey City showed young black kids with blurred faces explaining the game.“They just want to see if you have enough strength to knock somebody out,” says one kid in the video. The game was linked with other reports of random violence, particularly a spate of punching incidents in Brooklyn that had been qualified as hate crimes.

But the term was actually used as far back as 2011, in St. Louis, Missouri, after a few incidents — one where a group of kids who called themselves “The Knock Out clan”(TKO), beat up a 51-year-old man. And it’s not the only way to describe this so-called game. It’s also been called “polar bear hunting,” an allusion to the race of the victims — white.

The term “polar bear hunting” actually seems to have originated back in 2010, in Illinois, where a newspaper said of some random attacks there,“Earlier reports indicated a slang term of ‘polar bear hunting’ for these attacks, but police officials say that term is not evident in the recent attacks.” Conservative fringe blogs and racist websites quickly latched onto the term and have been using it since. Most recently, it was used to describe the killing of young white teen Christopher Lane on the conservative site American Thinker:

Sadistic activities such as “Knock-out King,”“Polar Bear Hunting,”“Apple Picking” etc. are favorite pastimes in urban America. Unfortunately, the destructive tenets of this dysfunctional subculture have now manifested in Duncan, Oklahoma, where Blacks are a mere three-percent of its population.

Conservative sites have similarly caught on to the newest media frenzy over what is now being called the “knockout game.” Often, though, they use the term to reference targeted muggings, not just random violence, lending credence to the idea that it is more a racial characterization than about the type of violent act itself.

The New York Post says is “on the rise across the country.” But in actuality, there is no data that such random violence is spreading — just a lot of media chatter.

In fact, police are not even certain that these incidents are connected, or that this widespread, trendy game based on knocking out strangers is real at all. A Jersey City police spokesperson told the New York Times,“If there ever was an urban myth, this was it.” And even Ray Kelly, the police commissioner of New York City who is notorious for his Stop & Frisk policy that targets Black and Latino men, said,“We’re trying to determine whether or not this is a real phenomenon.”

Kelly is also worried that bringing attention to the trend isn’t necessarily a good thing.“When you highlight an incident, or a type of criminal activity, some people will simply try to copy,” he said.

Guess What? The “Knockout Game” is America’s Latest Phony Panic
By Jamelle Bouie
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/11...
Much like "wilding" before it, the furor over the "knockout game" bears all the hallmarks of an overblown panic over a crime wave that doesn't exist.
If you’ve been following local news, watching national coverage, or reading your Facebook newsfeed, you might think the answer is “yes.” The TODAY Show, for instance, reports that “teenagers [are] knocking people out for the fun of it,” targeting “women and children,” with cases “piling up.”
Likewise, CNN writes that “A sick so-called game known as ‘knockout’…is catching the attention of law enforcement throughout the nation,” and USA Today echoes this with a brief on beefed up police vigilance in cities like New York, Washington, New Haven, and Philadelphia.
It’s not hard to see why media outlets have latched on to this as an ongoing story. The prospect of random assault from rowdy, aggressive teens is scary, especially if they’re uninterested in theft and just want to attack. It’s as if we’re living in A Clockwork Orange, with our cities under siege by violent young men.
But it’s this media panic—as well as the strongly anecdotal nature of the coverage—that should give us pause before we declare this to be a national problem. Victims tell similar stories: They were walking down the street when they were suddenly punched from behind. There’s no doubt that it’s a terrifying and traumatic experience for anyone who has experienced it.
But the question isn’t whether these random assaults happen. Of course they do. The question is whether this is a new dimension of urban crime, or a new name for an old phenomena. Most of the evidence points to the latter. For starters, it’s not hard to find reports of senseless attacks on innocent bystanders. In 2011, for instance, Washington D.C. saw nearly 1,700 assaults excluding guns, including a random attack by a group of teenagers in a subway station. Violent crime is a fact of life in American cities—though it’s infrequent and on the decline—and that includes muggings and attacks by strangers.
A little incredulity, in other words, would go a long way.
On top of all of this, it’s worth emphasizing the broad picture. Overall, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s 2012 crime report, there were an estimated 127,577 assaults with “hands and fists” in American cities with more than 250,000 people, a 0.7 percent increase from the previous year. The “knockout game” may or may not be a new phenomena, but with a few instances out of tens of thousands of assaults, it’s not a trend, and media outlets shouldn’t treat it as one. A few teens may describe their behavior as a game, but to hold them up as signs of a crime wave is to cherry-pick data and mislead the audience. A little incredulity, in other words, would go a long way.
One last thing: Race is an obvious element in all of this. In almost every report, the assailants are described as young black men, and many of the victims have been white. It’s hard not to see the sensationalized coverage of “knockout”—and before that,“wilding”—as a reflection of our national fear of young black men.
Never mind that the vast majority of young black men don’t commit crimes; the behavior of a few turns everyone into a suspect.
Which means that, if the past is any indication, today’s panic over “knockout” is almost certain to become tomorrow’s excuse for justifying our skepticism and fear of black teenagers.....

In fact, when asked about the “knockout game,” law enforcement has been skeptical. According to a recent New York Times piece,“[P]olice officials in several cities where such attacks have been reported said that the ‘game’ amounted to little more than an urban myth, and that the attacks in question might be nothing more than the sort of random assaults that have always occurred.”

The case for “myth” is bolstered further by the fact that the “knockout game” has been cited as far back as 1992, when it was compared to “wilding” as an example of dangerous teen behavior. What’s more, several widely circulated stories concerning the game have been debunked by websites like Snopes, which note that they have no “verifying information.”

On top of all of this, it’s worth emphasizing the broad picture. Indeed, in the more sinister corners of the internet, you can find people who argue that these incidents are the opening shots in a “race war” by “feral black youth.”

It should be said that this is the same logic that drives the racial profiling behind policies like “stop and frisk.” Never mind that the vast majority of young black men don’t commit crimes; the behavior of a few turns everyone into a suspect.

Which means that, if the past is any indication, today’s panic over “knockout” is almost certain to become tomorrow’s excuse for justifying our skepticism and fear of black teenagers.

So the article acknowledges that there is a pattern to these attacks where the victims are targeted based on race, but it then uses THAT fact as an angle to dismiss the crime and question the integrity of the critics?

If it were groups white men targeting blacks on the street would the author of this article still consider it a sensationalized phony crisis?

Discriminating against another person based on their race is racism, regardless of the context, especially when it involves violence. If you people can't understand that, then America is doomed.

Never once mentioning all the black kids that kill each other every day. You have people in black neighborhoods that are in fear of coming out of their houses because of BLACK kids. You need to wake up man! What planet are you from?

So the article acknowledges that there is a pattern to these attacks where the victims are targeted based on race, but it then uses THAT fact as an angle to dismiss the crime and question the integrity of the critics?
If it were groups white men targeting blacks on the street would the author of this article still consider it a sensationalized phony crisis?
Discriminating against another person based on their race is racism, regardless of the context, especially when it involves violence. If you people can't understand that, then America is doomed.
No they wouldn't consider it a phony crisis if the roles were reversed. They would be calling it a racist hate crime and Jessie, Al, and all the blacks they could round up would be marching to demand there be something done about it. Funny how they are always silent when it's a black on white crime.

And again, an anti-Semite like you calling someone racist is quite a joke.
I LIVED for years in Hilliard, penis-breath. It's not the 'real world' and there's no bus service I know of.

You're lying of course about "anti-Semitism" (typical of Israeli stooges) and you ARE a racist, as your nicks and post have demonstrated dozens if not hundreds of times. I've SEEN them, boy. Don't try to fool me.

Why not take ownership of your racism, at least? Or is that just more of the dishonesty?:)

Beside the knockout game, which has killed some people, black teen thugs are robbing retail stores using flash mobs, coordinated through internet social media.

The apologists will be along soon to explain how black teen flash mobs robbing retail stores are really just bored kids with nothing to do.

The apologisrt will say if someone white or asian or government would give them a good living wage job, they wouldn't do such things.

Yawn.

Links? Proof?

And don't bother to cite Hannity, Faux News, or the usual criminal propaganda cites, Skippy.
