What a country! as the Russian comedian Yakov Smirnoff would say.

Smirnoff came to the U.S. in the days when people from the old Eastern Block would risk life and limb to try to get here. Today the only limbs at risk when we allow political sanctuary are our own.

There was a lot more freedom in the U.S. then: Freedom from fear, freedom from foreclosure, freedom to work, freedom to run a marathon, freedom to love the country without being called a tea bagger; freedom for citizens to do their part with the government staying out of the way.

Itís changed now.

Now we root for the bad guys,- bad guys, who are a protected species- and support people who hate our own country.

A liberal writer from Salon, David Sirota, led off the hate parade last week with this sparkling prayer: Letís hope the Boston Marathon bomber is a white American.

He should have added:ďplease, dear God.Ē

Of course it would have offended his liberal readers when he invoked God. Let me remind them, however, that even Joseph Stalin, white guy and former seminarian, invoked the Almighty from time to time.

Sirota quotes professional race baiter and other white guy, Tim Wise, with this justification of his prayer:ďďWhite privilege is knowing that if this bomber turns out to be white, the United States government will not bomb whatever corn field or mountain town or stale suburb from which said bomber came, just to ensure that others like him or her donít get any ideas. And if he turns out to be a member of the Irish Republican Army we wonít bomb Dublin.Ē

Yeah those greedy, white Catholics in Dublin were so privileged that they were never targeted by other white guys- were they? No bombs in Dublin, right?

Nor was David Koresh, white guy, assaulted by a tank down in Waco, Texas for his crimes. Tim McVeigh? The lethal injection was too good for him.

But alas, we all have to live with disappointment, David, Tim and I do.

too was hoping the Boston bomber was a white American, for different reasons of course. The white American that I was hoping would be pinned to the bombing was David Sirota. Or Tim Wise would do just as well. Just say the word and Iíll ask Barack Obama to bomb Wiseís cornfield or Sirotaís stale city, just to prove that we arenít racists.

Hereís the hidden lesson from Boston: Government canít save you, nor should we want them to.

I think that the government already has a lot more power than I want it to have. And it didnít do us much good in Boston. The government interviewed at least one of the suspects after being tipped off by the Russian FSB, yet a few years later... boom. It sounds a lot like what happened with the Saudi group that was in the U.S. and executed the 9/11 bombing. We knew they were there, but we let it alone.

Oh, sure the Boston bombers were eventually caught or killed, but it took a second rampage, the killing of a police officer, a carjacking and robbery to get them caught.

It was a citizenís tip, not sleuth work, which led cops to capture the remaining bomber.

Again: Donít expect the government to keep you safe kiddies. I have no doubt that the people who work for the FBI and the Boston police very much want to keep us safe. I doubt very much that the political masters in charge have even half a mind to do it, however.

White privilege for them, it seems, consists mostly of taking the guns away from law-abiding citizens in the wake of Newtown, CT and Aurora, CO shootings, when action couldnít be fast enough, while playing footsie with a Saudi national on the terror watch list after the bombing of the Boston marathon.

First, the Saudi was a suspect, then heís not. First his apartment is raided, then itís not. Now heís a witness about to be deported over national security concerns, to be bundled out of the country forthwith. But wait! Later heís a person of interest, but thenÖno, heís not.

If I were a skeptical person I would say that someone from the government very much wants to ask that Saudi a whole bunch of questions and someone else from the government very much wants to prevent it.

Whatís all the rush now? Why all the silence?

Letís ask those questions of the Saudi.

This much I know: Someoneís lying. Letís find out who it is.

Because now all thatís left in Boston are the questions that remain unanswered and unasked.

We shouldnít be standing on any privilege, red, white or Saudi.

Meanwhile the best outcome that some can dream up is praying publicly that Americans keep killing Americans, like in a civil war.

What country?
