Did you ever get a deer with a rack?
What do you do (I hate to ask this) with the skin/fur?
Can't say I don't blame you for wanting to do it yourself. You get to keep everything.
I'm impressed Spook!
I have taken several large bucks but they are not as tasty. I like to take doe or 8 point and under. Now if they are in the apples or vegetables I kill them

The hide I have made in to jackets or sent out to amish and had them make gloves etc out of them.

Just shopped and made beef soup! Yummers!!!!!
When making soups and or stews, do you skim the fat out? I always put it in frig and it congeals and is easier to scoop.
I actually don't skim the fat off, it is a lot of the flavor and melts right down when you reheat the soup. Just had a huge bowl of vegetable soup (actually two) made by me! Mrs. rowdy liked it so well, I think I might get a "hug" later.

I love soup.
Did you ever make the Italian wedding soup? It is so good.

Nope, sorry the tiny meatballs aren't my favorite. When I think Italian, I usually think pasta covered with goodies.

Apple cake!

Here's a pretty close recipe to what I make:

http://www.food.com/recipe/apple-sour-cream-c...

I don't do the topping and sometimes use half sour cream and half cream cheese for the batter. This is soooooo good! Granny Smith apples work best for me.

I love that cake.

I love fall myself. I love waking up in the morning, after sleeping with the windows open, feeling energized. We have had so far a near perfect fall! Not so much color here yet, but man I'm itching to see it. Will be in Waynesville tomorrow...sauerkraut festival!!! Yum, I love those cabbage rolls there. I have a good recipe for those, too.

Piggies in the blanket?...
I have the easiest recipe and was given to me years ago and have made it since!
After you roll the cabbage with meat, line in roaster pan, pour a bottle of Hunts Ketchup all over. If you like chopped tomatoes pour over rolls. Then this is the key! Pour VERNORS GINGER ALE, has to be VERNORS till liquid is about half way up rolls. Cover, bake till tender. Let sit in oven when done for about 30-45 min.
Sweet and sour taste is out of this world!
I gulped when this friend gave me this when she told me about the Ketchup and ginger ale. But tried it. I love it!
Another tip : the night before core the cabbage head, wrap with Saran then put in freezer. In the morning, put cabbage in a colander and run cold water in the hole where you cored it. It will already be blanched and I always take the white part off on the leaves. Sometimes when I'm pressed for time, I make the rice night before and refrigerate. This is a time saver meal! Freezes well!

I'll have to try that. It sounds good. My mom used to glaze hams with Coke. I never thought about freezing the cabbage, that would be so easy.

Cabbage rolls to Polacks like me are called golabki (pronounced go-wab-kee). Traditionally, they aren't made with the tomato sauce, but I like them with the tomato sauce or the traditional way. The sauce in the eastern European version is made with beef stock, it's reduced down and then blended with sour cream.
