This statue us John Paulding's "Over the Top". It has nothing to do with the "150 bronze and zinc brothers" by sculptor E.M. Viquesney. On the Paulding statue, the right leg is free of the base and supported by a brace. On the Viquesney Doughboy, both feet touch the base with no additional support. The Philladelphia statue has a closed fist; the Viquesney statue ALWAYS holds a hand grenade. There are an estimated 50 - 55 Paulding "Over the Top" statues in the U.S., in four versions, all identical except as to the design of the right hand (closed fist or open hand are the two most common). The open hand version is called "Over the Top to Victory".
