Have you ever tried to stop a charging elephant? Think of that semi as a charging elephant, it takes everything a driver has to try and stop the rig. Drivers need to realize that all semi accidents are not caused by the driver! If you are entering an interstate route, semi on your left, if that rig has not passed the on ramp, your duty as the driver of a vehicle, is to yield. If the rig doesn't move over so that you can get on, that's because another driver, that you can't see, is on the left of the rig. Don't stay in the blind spot of a rig, because if he can't see you, you can't see the driver. Seems basic skills in driving have been forgotten by most people. If your driving, pay attention, this is for all drivers. The life you save maybe your own.

Just a note of interest: Obama signed the bill Friday that will allow semi-trucks from Mexico to cross the border with no inspections what so ever. They will permitted to drive on 6 superhighways in the USA. No inspections of contents or safety, wow, won't that be good for us!!!!! People, wake up!!! This is an invasion and the end of the USA as we know it.
I knew it was Obama's fault. Sounds like Linda's brain is tied into Glen Beck's Atta girl Linda!

Before we lamblast the truck driver we might want to consider two things. It's been raining = wet roads. It's Columbus = automobile drivers that think THEY own the road and trucks can stop and maneuver like a car. I don't know what caused the accident but I think we should wait for more information before accussing a driver of attempting to kill himself. I'm beginning to think that everyone should have to attempt to drive a fully loaded semi and a bus before they are issued a driver's license so they understand the importance of safe, courteous driving.

No, Linda's ex-husband is a truck driver and she has a vendetta. Just wait until she starts ranting about truck drivers.

Frank, I agree with you. However, you cannot deny these are mean looking guys and they not always understand 'the importance of safe, courteous driving".

Do you know how the local farmers got their seed and fertilizer? It's not in the back of their pickup truck. My sister hauls seed from the Pioneer plant in Indiana to farmers all over the mid-west. In ten years she has never had an accident or lost a load. And to my knowledge she's never pulled in front of a car a slammed on her brakes. The next time you pull into a truck stop for gas a see a truck driver, thank them for keeping America going.

Bottom line is the guy should be drug tested. He did wreck a giant truck. The one thing he was not suppose to do.

Glad you clarified that. I had to take my last physical twice because my blood pressure was slightly elevated. The first physical was after sitting in a traffic backup on the freeway after a car driver didn't know how to change lanes properly. The second time everything was fine.

I was about to say the same thing. My Dad was a truck driver for 40 years with no accidents. Everything we use/eat is brought by a truck. Give the truck driver's some respect and plenty of room on the roads. They are dong a job around a bunch of ungrateful whiny people. LOVE TO TRUCKERS!!!!

Unless some of the people making comments have more information than I got from this brief article, there is a lot of pure speculation going on as to what caused this wreck. To all of you armchair analysts: got any new insights on Charlie Sheen?

I find it interesting that some of these comments focus on the reckless, dangerous truckers. There are reckless, dangerous truckers just like there are reckless, dangerous drivers of passenger vehicles.

How about these problem drivers? The (usually) young people who drive small cars while texting, talking on the phone, eating, whatever. The (usually) young mothers (always with at least one baby seat and usually with one or more children IN the minivan or SUV). The drivers (vehicle make and model random) who just can't stand to have you in front of them on the highway, even if you're doing 10 miles an hour over the speed limit; who will ride you relentlessly until you can finally get out of their way; and then they just amble on by, suddenly not in a hurry anymore because they 'proved' something by getting you out of the way.

These are just a few examples of the drivers that concern me (and annoy me) much more than the relatively few dangerous truck drivers.

The common thing with all the drivers mentioned above? They were "in a hurry". Driving like they're late for their own funeral, which sometimes becomes a prophetic action.

Of course, there are drivers who are reckelss and dangerous most of the time they're on the road. They can't be reasoned with. I just hope that I'm not involved in the death and destruction that will eventually happen to many of them, and sadly, that will happen to those people unfortunate to be around them at the time.

For the rest of us, next time we're "in a hurry", let's think about the possible consequences and ask ourselves if we might just be part of the problems we're complaining about.
