Smith, to his surprise, found one of his off-duty troopers behind the wheel. And she seemed intoxicated. He cut her no slack.
He cited Trooper Tiffany Wilson, 39, for a first-time drunken-driving offense and gave her a ticket for exceeding the 65 mph speed limit, said Lt. Anne Ralston, patrol spokeswoman.
No slack? Not arrested and a ticket for exceeding 65 mph? Sounds like alot of slack to me.

Trooper Wilson obviously used poor judgement, but not concerning her decision to drive home from a party after drinking. That is what alcohol does - it reduces one's ability to make good decisions. Rather, the trooper's poor judgement involved her decision to begin drinking at the party in the first place when she knew she would be driving later. Being a tooper, she had been trained to know not to drink if you will then be driving. Her violation cost her more than six thousand dollars out of pocket and the loss of three month's pay. Plus, she can be fired if she violates ANY work rule in the next five years. The Partol now has a policy to fire any trooper convicted of OMVI, so everyone knows what to expect in the future. I suspect Trooper Wilson will live at the foot of the cross from now on. Thank the Lord no one was injured or killed due to her poor choice.

Equal Treatment in OH

I feel like this whole situation is ridiculous. There is absolutely no way that this woman should be allowed back in any shape or form as an officer of the law. Behind a desk, behind a wheel, behind a badge, No Way! I don't care how spotless her record was before this incident, it's not anymore. How is anyone supposed to trust her or even show her respect in terms of law enforcement. Can you imagine getting pulled over and issued a speeding ticket from her? I would laugh... She has zero credibility. I am not saying she should be ostriczed and punished for the rest of her life (mistakes happen), but she certainly should pay for it now. Anyone that drives for a living (I.e. Bus driver, truck driver, etc.) loses their JOB, period (I know there are exceptions). Why is it less of a punishment for someone who enforces the very law she so blatantly broke? I certainly don't feel better about highway safety with her back at a job doing whatever they have her doing.
