Wrong, as equal protection would apply to each US citizen.
The slippery slope is before you.
That may be the case eventually (and personally, I don't think any state has the right to decide who marries whom, as long as those parties are consenting adults), but as of now, the US constitution does not mention marriage, so that is one of the things left to the states. One state's laws do not apply to citizens in another state. I don't see THAT changing anytime soon.

Wasn't that the District Court opinion?
I think it was federal legislation, which has since been rescinded (all states have their own laws on the subject).
I thought the Supreme Court only ruled that the private parties cannot have standing,
I'm thinking it was THOSE PARTICULAR private parties who didn't have standing.
if CA had a different Attorney General they could still pursue the case at the Circuit level.
I don't know... I think it would still have lost.

This was not a states' right victory. SCOTUS invoked equal protection for a reason; when it is applied to the states, as it will be under the upcoming legal challenges, states will be found denying the same to the class known as same-sex individuals.
There can be no denial of this plain fact.
My logic is mine, and can certainly be wrong, but I don't think it is.
Further, your reassurances remind me of Obama's claim that Catholics would not be forced to pay for contraception under Obamacare...and, more specifically, of his claim today that he [the benevolent dictator, who assumes he has such power] would not require churches to perform same-sex weddings.
On this, there is no precedent to "force" any church to perform ANY wedding. If anybody doesn't like it, let them get married at city hall.

There is also the ability of the state to yank the tax exemption if discrimination by orientation gets "suspect clause" status as it is with race.

The California state legislature was attempting to legislate the Boy Scouts out of existence until they caved.

In California orientation is already a suspect class under the law, and strict scrutiny would allow the legislature to legislate for instance the Catholic Church out of existence.

They won't do it now, but wait 10 years. Then they will.

People often don't act unless there is a monetary impulse.

There are also unexplored legal alternatives. CA could order that the RCC must perform gay marriages or lose exemption, and a church is barred exemption if it discriminates on race (suspect class, strict scrutiny). But the org could dodge it with a ruling that only a civil marriage could be performed in the building.

Now one might wonder why people would want them to do that, when the Episcopal "church" already exists, but that's not the point, the point is destroying an org that isn't progressive, because the progressives are afraid of it.

I don't see that happening in ten years, or fifty. There's a lot, I suspect, that is going to be happening in the near future (the dismantling of the Republican party being one) that is going to greatly change things against the progressives.(I haven't thought it all out yet, but those admitted to this country under amnesty that the democrats think they want are going to turn out to be THEIR (the progressives') undoing). I think the RCC will be fine.

Gay or straight, I swear the government is trying to dismantle marriage in general:

"Earlier in the DOMA litigation, some states complained that the marriage law was costing them money on Medicaid. The federal government was counting each person in same-sex couples separately, and sometimes they were both individually eligible for Medicaid. But if they had been counted together as they will be now their income would have been too high to qualify for Medicaid benefits.

The same basic math applies to ObamaCare's tax credits to help buy private insurance. The size of the tax credit is based on household income, and it cuts off at a certain level. So some same-sex couples might receive smaller tax credits or no credit at all now that they'll be treated as a couple, rather than two individual earners."

I sense history wasn't your favorite subject in school, if it was I apologize :)

The history of Mexico includes a long history of dictatorships that treated the RCC with hostility, including one outright period of persecution. The two terms of PAN presidents (Fox, Calderon) were an aberration of Mexican history and neither won a majority.

It's also worth noting that due to leftist control of the schools, along with most Mexican immigrants coming from poorer leftist southern Mexico rather than richer Northern Mexico, that the social progressivsim amongst is on the increase.

I've seen numbers that show that Latins are not only fiscal left, but supporters of abortion and SSM, after all they have a high rate of illegitimacy.

I'm not concerned about prospective politics until after the war is over. Then I suspect a period of LDS dominance, rather than leftist, but mice and men...

Marriage rates are on the decline. It's a product of cultural liberalism, normalization and "no-fault divorce" (Reagan's regret)

"Politics is downstream from culture"- Andrew Breitbart

Culturally, divorce is not seen as shameful, and even illegitimacy is not what it once was.

The government benefits fiscally from divorce in terms of taxes paid, but we end up paying more in transfer payments due to increase in single parents.

What the hell are you talking about? Victim mentality seems to work for "your" people every day. You freaking hypocrite! So you believe babies should be aborted after 20 weeks and that we should pay for the abortion on top of it? No wonder you'll never amount to anything. Moron.

Allright, listen up all white Republicans. You will accept gays getting married whether you like it or not. If you don't, we will make you. You will also accept that women can get an abortion any time she wants on your dime. Who cares if she's over 30 weeks pregnant. It's her choice. It's more important for her to be comfortable with her decision than the size of the baby when she finally decides. You will also be held responsible for anything you've said since birth and will be punished as we see fit if we find out you said something we don't like. You could be smeared in the news, lose your job, etc. You are not allowed to speak your mind, have an opinion, or disagree with anything we say. Again remember this goes for white Republicans only. Anyone else can do as they please. Signed, The Democrats.
Democrats are so stupid they don't realize that once they take everything away from Republicans and make them accept whatever they dish out they will be turning on each other and trying to take away any of the rights the Democrats have left. Anything goes in the Democrats world. Except of course anything the Republicans believe in.
