Perhaps, it would be more correct to say "SCOTUS' non-decision," as they found the case lacked standing.

That pro-LGBTIQABCDEF marriage pleadings are already underway in every "traditional marriage" state, I have no doubt.

Welcome to the slippery slope.

Very excited to see the response from the federal gov (what kind of timeline is going to be set for adjustments on their end) and the legal actions that follow.
Good on them for framing it as a state's rights issue.
Hell, good on them for all of it.
LOL, if the courts are honest, I get to CCW in NYC now.

Not a wizard in this, but does that mean that if California elects an R Attorney General in 2014 that they can defend it in the Appeals Court?

Worth noting that a D legislature and Jerry Brown simply haven't passed SSM into law.

Prop 8 is dead; SSM has achieved equality by default.
Another lesson for Americans that "elections have consequences."

Even the Kool-aid drinkers recognize the dangers inherent in the Prop 8 "decision":

The decisions weren't much of a surprise. The only one that was was the ruling that the state can continue to discriminate against whites.

Voter fraud has consequences. The CA AG that elected to not defend it in court was almost certainly elected by fradulent and illegal alien votes.

The question the court answered, correctly, is by what legal precedent does the court have to deny gays the right to marry. Basically, those opposed to gay marriage can no longer use animus - or moral disapproval - to enact laws prohibiting marriage between people of the same sex. And yes - the question of wether or not polygamy can be made illegal will inevitably follow on the same grounds.
One would have to be certifiably insane to wish to have more than 1 spouse.

Divorce attorneys would absolutely love it though.

SCOTUS' decision rendered California's Prop 8 unenforceable.
http://www.yubanet.com/california/Governor-Br...
Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today issued the following statement on the United States Supreme Court ruling on Proposition 8 (Hollingsworth v. Perry):
"After years of struggle, the U.S. Supreme Court today has made same-sex marriage a reality in California. In light of the decision, I have directed the California Department of Public Health to advise the state's counties that they must begin issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples in California as soon as the Ninth Circuit confirms the stay is lifted," said Governor Brown.
The effect of today's U.S. Supreme Court ruling is that the 2010 federal district court's decision that Proposition 8 is unconstitutional is left intact and the law cannot be enforced.

Huh?
The DOMA, California 8, Section 5 and DNA decisions weren't surprises.

The affirmative action (discrimination against whites) decision was a surprise, some including I, expected the court to find it unconstitutional.

If two members of the same sex introduce themselves to me as "married," I'll simply do what I did when I was visiting someone in the hospital not too long ago and a woman entered the room saying she was the chaplain...I smirked and said, "Sure you are..."

Ever notice that people do the same thing when you tell them about that higher education you claim to have?

Smirk till the cows come home - who cares. The fact is - as determined by law - they will in fact be married if they live in one of the 12 states that allow it.

Hail, Colby, hail!
Thy people far and near
Stand at thy call,
Our alma mater dear.

Thy shaded paths recall our steps,
To gather at thy shrine;
Thy mem'ried halls reclaim our hearts,
'Til all our thoughts are thine.

Hail, Colby, hail!
Hail, Colby, hail!
To thee we lift our hearts and homage pay;
Our alma mater, hail the Blue and Gray!

why don't we just take government out of marriage completely?

flat tax for all, no incentive for nothing.

what does it matter to government if you are married or not?

My religion is also none of their business.......yours either.

My living arrangements are not the governments business.....yours either.

Kids change things.......That brings slippery slopes into play. Those slopes are worth discovery.

thoughts for the day.
