<quoted text>
"...Illinois law has rules -- loophole-ridden rules, but rules -- requiring treatment of babies who have 'sustainable survivability.' If an attempted abortion of a pre-viable fetus results in a live birth, the law did not protect the infant. Nurse Jill Stanek said that at her hospital 'abortions' were repeatedly performed by inducing the live birth of a pre-viable fetus and then leaving it to die. When she made her report, the attorney general said that no law had been broken. Thatís why legislators proposed a bill to fill the gap.
Obama did not want the gap filled. He did not want pre-viable fetuses/infants to have any legal protection. In the Illinois legislature, he argued that providing them with legal protection would both be unconstitutional in itself ó a violation of the Supreme Courtís abortion jurisprudence ó and undermine the right to abortion.
Obama was wrong about these points. The Supreme Courtís abortion jurisprudence treats the location of the young human organism, not its stage of development, as the key factor in whether it can be legally protected. But thatís the ground on which he stood, at the time. In recent years, however, he has had very little to say about the importance of denying legal protection to this class of human beings. He knows thatís a losing argument politically. So he has instead been emitting a thick cloud of smoke...."

Jill Stanek would disagree, based on her personal working knowledge.
Regardless, is it the same kind of law that protects against age discrimination in the workplace?
Of course she would disagree. She was the one who was debunked.

Tip, you are tap dancing. What care are you demanding for a pre-viable fetus once it has been aborted?

You seem to be claiming some sort of medical neglect. What would you have done?

Didn't you see what they did to Anakin Skywalker after he fell into that lava? Something like that.

Lack of agreement with you doesn't equate lack of substance. In fact, it is proof positive of substance.

If a viable fetus is born and left to die, that is called homicide. No need for any other law. Get it?

OMG. Please let the nation's NICU MDs and RNs know ASAP that all pre-natal emergencies and interventions are pointless.

If it's not a "viable" living human, why attempt to save it?

Exactly.
So...you support physicians taking whatever medical action necessary to save a born-alive, premature baby in NICU -- because s/he's wanted -- while allowing a born-alive, premature baby at the abortion to clinic to die -- because s/he's unwanted?

You believe Jesus would turn His back on a breathing baby left to die in a medical pan, and assure the mother of a successful abortion?

Viability has nothing to do with being wanted.

I can't tell if there's a lot of stupid going on or just a lot of ignoring facts to fit worldviews.

Fetal viability it the point at which it becomes possible for the fetus to survive outside the womb.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fetal_viability

(there's a handy chart!)

Asking why these fetuses aren't being saved seems like something easily addressed first by explaining the concept of viability and then answering questions you may have in response, rather than trusting what appears to be suspect levels of knowledge and continuing the conversation with them.

Naturally, you feign blissful ignorance regarding all of the "pre-viable" babies saved by NICU interventions.

Naturally.

These born-alive premature babies -- the result of "botched" abortions [sarcasm]-- have no protections and are left to die in one room, while born-alive premature babies -- the result of prenatal emergencies -- are provided every medical necessity in the next.
