Everyone should feel lucky, in Ohio, except Highland county, our sheriff does not do the snow level/emerencies. I guess he thinks he knows it all.

At what level should companies send there employees home?
I think once a county hits a Level 2 employers need to start considering it. I understand that we are all adults and should expect to be at work. I am one of the few where I work that doesn't sit around complaining about having to be at work when it's snowing. However, at some point your the safety of your employees has to be a concern. I think waiting until a Level 3 hits to send people home is a little crazy. In the case of Franklin County, most of the comments on here are accurate. In all likelyhood, they're not going to call a Level 3. But that doesn't mean it is safe for people to be driving. I agree that being smart and driving slow is the answer. But we can't control how everyone else drives!

As far as I know, Highland county is the only county in Ohio that does not issue snow level/emergencies. What a dumb thing to do, what a sheriff we have.

I don't understand why morrow county isn't under a level two. It is coming down hard and fast. The sheriff need to take a drive and see how bad it is here.State route 19 is a mess.CR 20 is really bad and st.rt. 42 isn't any better.

what I don't understand is that some places of employment do not call people off until it gets the worst. at least that's what my employer does. We left early on Friday and the roads were no where near as bad as they are now. And here we are again stuck at work...waiting for them to let us go home...And today of all days, they will probably make us wait until 5pm to leave. Doesn't make much sense. pisses me off
I totally have this same problem, my employer let us out on Saturday early and it had stopped snowing. But today when the snow hasn't stopped and there's proof of certain counties being in level one and two....they don't do nothing but say if our county goes to a level two then maybe we can leave early!!! I'm soo pissed I'll be here til 4 and it'll probably take a hour or so to get home...And I'm a student and my University hasn't closed either!!! So I'll probably be late for class if they don't cancel...This is crazy!!!

Ok, I wake up here in sunny Florida. I get online here to see the news on the amount of snow expected. I see after all these years that I have been here in Florida that Columbus has not changed. The news, they do the same stories over and over. "let's go out to the salt building to get a report" How boring, people, it's not what people in real snow area's use, they use sand. "Let's turn on the freeway cams" ...For God sake, you can't even see anything. "lets go see how the roads are holding up"...Heck, they City still is bad on snow removal, so get over it. "Let's go see what is cancelled"...OH MY GAWD! They cancel school when the roads are clear? "let's go out and see how the plaows are doing"..Again, the City still stinks on caring for people in my ole southend. "let's take a look at what level of snow emergency we are on"..WHO CARES! Oh, yeh and by the way! Who cares really? I am sunny FLORIDA now! Love Ya, BYEEEEEE!!!
I am just a little bit confused here....I would guess you dont have much of a life there in Sunny Florida if you have to get on places like this to talk stupidly! Being a true Ohioian (yes I have grandparents in Florida)I would much rather be here with people who care than down there with people like you!!

Franklin will never see a lvl 3. Remember last year when we had 22 inches of snow fall in a 26 hour period? We still only saw a lvl 2. Closing Franklin county down is like the ultimate sin.
Yeah, I was amazed we didn't go higher than level 2 during the ice storm in 04 or the Blizzard in 08... Franklin country will probably never shut down.

Columbus isn't in the snow belt, nor do they get the lake effectsnow. Heavy snow and drifting isn't as typical in Columbus as it is in Cleveland
