Where greed & the over-piad CEO's range...

Where seldom is heard...an employee saying a word..

And the future is cloudy all day."

Attention Dispatch:

This story is not fair and balanced enough. Please revise immediately to include citizen celebrations of extended vacation of 100 Grange employees and news about job growth under Dear Leader. "Layoff" and "Job Elimination" are unfair and unbalanced terms only applicable to Democrat job losses. Use "New Career" and "Great New Opportunities in Job Market" instead.

Politicians don't lay people off...

RICH PRIVATE BUSINESS OWNERS AND CORPORATIONS DO. They fear having to share their high-profits with the poorest working class and small business owners that they are stealing their profits from in the first place.

As soon as anyone that isn't associated with the rich Republican party, huge financial firms that claim to be non-profit, non-partisan, faith-based religious organizations start pulling their strings inside of these "partnerships" they have made with big banks, insurance firms, and telecommunications corporations--that are for-profit. They spin their wheels and begin laying off anyone they believe isn't a Republican, or a family or a friend with money and influence to avoid having to comply with any laws that make what they are doing illegal and immoral.

SO DON'T BLAME THE POLITICIANS THAT A MAJORITY VOTE HAS PUT IN CHARGE OF GOVERNMENT. THESE ARE PRIVATE FOR-PROFIT INSURANCE COMPANIES. LOOK WHO THEY HIRE. WHAT HIGH SCHOOLS DO THESE EMPLOYEES ATTEND? Does anyone out there see the truth in these matters. People who can afford to pay full tuition to send their kids to a private high school in Columbus Ohio seem to have no problems getting kids into college and high school graduates without college into good paying jobs with telecommunication, insurance, and medical/health care office and technical jobs.

WAKE UP FOLKS! WHO DO INSURANCE COMPANIES STEAL THEIR PROFITS FROM ANYWAYS? And when you lay off low-wage workers, they stop paying insurance to buy food and pay for their roof over their head and keep warm. They don't care anymore if someone sues them for not having insurance. They don't care if they can't pay their emergency room bills. If they can't keep a roof over their heads, heat, water, lights and food in their family's mouths....because rich people lay them off from the jobs they had that let them afford to buy insurance, and pay debts, purchase new cars and homes, AND PAY THEIR TAXES LIKE THOSE WHO DIDN'T LOSE THEIR JOBS...

THEN why do you think that they would care about paying for or buying insurance? Then you have these folks who try to get the unemployed re-employed as "insurance salespeople" and "Job placement coaches!" Get it...the rich people want us to sell for them and make them a profit but don't care if we can eat or pay our heating bills!

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING THAT ANY ELECTED POLITICIAN FROM ANY PARTY DOES OR DOESN'T DO...IT IS ALL IN THE HANDS OF THE RICH FOR-PROFIT BUSINESSES AND BANKS...HECK WHEN WE DO WORK WE NEVER SEE ANY CASH ANYMORE...THEY FORCE US TO HAVE OUR PAYCHECKS DEPOSITED IN A BANK OR ELSE PAY A HUGE FEE TO CASH IT. EVERYONE SEEMS TO WANT YOU TO SIGN OVER ACCESS TO YOUR EARNINGS IN YOUR PRIVATE CHECKING ACCOUNT.

HAS ANYONE BESIDES A BANK OR A BUSINESS OWNER SEEN MANY DOLLAR BILLS FLOATING AROUND LATELY!

NO. SOME INSURANCE COMPANY CEO HAS THEM ALL!

Dude, I'm with you on the reform, but the law doesn't even take effect until 2014. The layoffs are also related to their property/casualty business.

Trust me, my job used to be to rate companies for investment purposes. You gotta learn to see through the bs. Companies like to blame everything except their own management for their problems.

Grange has been quietly laying off people for years, a little at a time. How nice of them to choose two weeks before the start of the holiday season to announce this decision. Well, maybe that was helpful after all, now those who got laid off will know not to overspend for the holidays. I bet the retired Mr Urban who brought them to this point, will still be attending OSU Football and basketball games on the Grange dime, and I highly doubt either he or Mr. James will be suffering this holiday season. As an agent, I know not all people understand the managed risk business of insurance, but what they do understand is their premiums are increasing, their service is less than stellar and now the Company is laying off even more people designed to service the customer? For shame. How about a cut in the CEO salary or the retirement salary of Mr. Urban and save a few of those jobs? I bet you don't hear anything about that happening.

As someone who just dropped Grange due to their outrageous premiums, I can tell you why they're cutting jobs and it has nothing to do with politics. We requested quotes from several insurance companies when we added our teenage daughter to our policy. ALL of the quotes, with the addition of a new teenage driver, were several hundred dollars cheaper than what we were paying for two people with clean driving records. We called Grange and asked if they would be willing to match the quotes that we were given as all of them were within the same price range, and we were told no, that they did not have the ability to adjust the rack rates. So, after 20 years with the company, we left. I'm all for company loyalty, but not at the cost of $600 a year! When our home owners policy comes up for renewal we'll be moving that as well and saving ourselves another $300 a year.
