Million dollar coaches, million dollar NCAA presidents, million dollar commissioners, million dollar ADs. Brothers, friends, wives, nephews on payrolls. The wonderful world of amateur athletics. Selling a few awards was wrong, but think I might buy a #2 jersey for 9/3.

All this of course after Jim Delany pushed and schemed to get the OSU players able to play in the Sugar Bowl, so all the other Big Ten teams could get that 5/6 total share of something like a $12M payout. What does that figure -$2M for each team. Oh, and it includes maybe $2M that went to the league and his office. Wonder if he has "vacated" that and given it back?

What a hypocrite! Tressel told the NCAA that he didn't want those kids to play. Delany did want them to, so they did, and now he piles on Tressel.

At the time Delany even bragged about working to get those players eligible! Now that Jim Tressel is under the bus, Jim Delany is jumping on him too. The commissioner deserves a great big piling on penalty for his two-facedness!

Yes follow the rules because if you don't I'm gonna stomp my feet and slap you on the wrist. The number of wrist slaps will be directly proportional to the amount of money you bring in, the more money the less slaps. After all the hell with honor and pride we are here to generate money.

Should be "the number of wrist slaps will be INVERSELY proportional". Technically.

Isn't one of his main roles as commisioner to raise, as you call it, "big bucks" for the league? That said, in his capacity he has over achieved. Like it or not, it takes huge sums of money to sustain a top notch league. Perhaps you would be happier if the Big 10 was like The Big East????

Big Ten awash in gold. Commissioner makes a million. Coaches can't carry their gold in a truck.

And we pay our players so little they are compelled to sell their own not-so-precious awards for peanuts. what's wrong with that? Breaks an ncaa rule against selling their own property.

Something smell about this? Hello, Department of Justice. Don't waste time on the bowls. Start with the NCAA and its monopoly.

"It's a system that was established in the '50s and is stuck in the '70s,"

...and you as commissioner for all these years is just recognizing that fact??? Perhaps you should start by doing and honest self-evaluation of your work, first, to determine if you might be part the problem.

Delany needs to put some punch behind his words. Instead of just scolding & warning schools to keep clean, he should push for league rules that any team under NCAA investigation for major rules violations would be put on probation & not eligable for the league championship or any post season play until the NCAA findings & penalties are finished.

This would make the league proactive rather than defensive. Right now, if teams cheat & get caught, there is no penalties for up to 2 years. In this case, it would be immediate. This would have eliminated OSU from last years Sugar Bowl game which should have been done anyway.

I must have missed something. Does he have some other duty as Commissioner besides raking in big bucks for the conference members? It is what it is. Are you expecting something different from him?

OK so let me see if I get this right - the Big 10 Commissioner, the same guy who not only allowed the tatt 5 to play in the Sugar Bowl but PUSHED FOR IT with the NCAA, is now telling coaches they need to play by the rules. Pardon me while I pee myself laughing on this one....."do as I say, not as I do" huh Mr. Delaney? Great role model you are.

I think it is time for a salary cap on college coaches.

Some may think that is un American but the NCAA like the NFL is a monopoly and the NFL regulates salaries.

It is not unAmerican to regulate monopolies.

Play by the rules... I will agree to that but the question is: WHOSE RULES???

Mr. Delany, do you remember you and the Sugar Bowl representives actually demanded that the Tat 5 be allowed to play even tho they(the Tat 5) had been found guilty? Was that rule not broken, knowingly allowing the guilty to play?

Sir, may I respectfully suggest that before you speak again, do the research of what you have said in the past. It certainly would save you a lot of embarrassment.

Yes sir, we fans do have a memory and do recall past events.

Also some of us remember you are also an active member of the University of North Carolina.

I wonder if thats why you ok'd Leaders and Legends which made us the laughing stock of all football?

May I also respectivelly say: Go home Mr. Delany, go home.

Note to all Michigan fans...Delany describes the two cases as similar in what it does to the conference. Funny how a non-OSU fan thinks the Michigan problems were on the same level as the OSU problems, but Michigan fans would never believe it.
