You want to spend the weekend looking at the ground and being sad? Knock yourself out, angry old man! I'll be looking at the sky and remembering a few who fell with a tip of a beer bottle and a prayer of thanks.
An old fashion Irish wake? Excellent.

However to those who mock a genuine remembrance in some form for our fallen heroes,

I can't post what I really want to say.

Whatever, George.
Stew in your hate if you want, it's your pathetic life.
You got burned, kid. For good reason. Deal with it.

Vapid much? There's a reason you get a long weekend to fire up the bbq. Your nonsense has long ago become more than tiresome.
Daughter of a WW2 Army Air Force combat vet, a ball turret gunner. One of the guys who helped bomb Blechhammer and Nazi oil supply lines. Had orders to fly at tree top level for some missions, 1944, B17. Mission orders were to fly in ahead of the bombers, gunning from tree top level to blow up as many oil tanks, equipment, buildings as possible. Pretty damned dangerous. If no military service or don't know anyone who has served, at least be a moment of reflection, is that possible for you?
Just thought I'd post a reminder of why we celebrate Memorial Day.
What is up with the clipped sentences all the time? It looks like you are trying to write lame song lyrics.

Read your stuff before clicking the 'post comment' button, and step up your own game a few notches before criticizing others' grammar.

Didn't like that I called you on the vapid comment?

Here it is: Are you vapid? Yes. Are you an idiot? Yes. My game is infinitely better than yours, I don't support pedophilia.

Impressive ceremony. All combat vets honorably discharged may have one at their burial if requested, I believe. Not sure if that is true any longer but we did have it done at my day's burial in the 80s.

Don't mind him. He's just grouchy because I wouldn't give him any lovin' last night. That's what he gets for stayin' up on the computer until 3am while hasslin' you good people on topix.
Thanks Mrs. B. It is a shame you have to put up with that dickless goat. You deserve so much better!

It's Memorial Day weekend and that means it's time for George to brag about his daddy being a B-52 pilot in Nam. Of course George himself never served in the military and that's because he's all mouth and no balls which makes him unworthy of wearing a uniform to begin with.

Memorizing the 'real warriors' who died 'for our freedom ' this memorial day ...the WWII vets! Nam was a failure and disgrace on our collective consciousness. Who did the Vietnam soldiers die for? The entire country is a Communists viper's nest ...wasted f'ing limb, life, and resources on some BS!

NO OTHER WAR WAS WAGED FOR OUR FREEDOM, BESIDES WWII!!!!!

The rest of them was strickly political and financial(military industrial complex) in nature. Tell the f'n truth and stop lying to the kids in this country! Reinstate the draft or make it mandatory that every citizen servers at least two years upon their 18th birthday.

Get you privileged armchair soldiers finger nails dirty, so that it won't just be low income people who can't find employment getting sent to fight and die for rich phucks who don't give a chit about their sacrifice.

Tell the damn truth to the youth!

Where did I mention my family's service on this thread?
Let's hear about your illustrious service...or are you on your way out to uproot flags at a cemetery?
BTW, can you tell us about Mr. Obama's lack of military service? He does more today than talk...he kills people.

Lemme tell you something, WiseA**.

The youth took their orders and DIED. They didn't whine on Topix. They didn't complain about their lot in life, or their lack of family. They didn't build up a sham political career over blame and shoulda, woulda, coulda. They took their marching orders, sans politics, and DIED. Others were maimed, and then the ROE were changed so that even more died and were maimed. I won't even talk about the injured and those who came back with PTSD.

More servicemen and women are dying in Afghanistan than ever before, and all Obama people want to do is talk about racists and how it was an illegal war. Maybe it was, but it's not bringing anyone back, any limbs back, any minds back, and service personnel are still dying every single day. You'd think your beloved President would find a way to end a war that can't be won, wouldn't you?

I, too, wish I could type out what I really want to say. If only...

Did someone in your family die militarily in a war attack of some sort in the last 30 years? And if so, do you honor them by getting out there and getting your hands dirty in a different sort of way, or do you go on and on and ON about how only the low-income serve, youth is being lied to, and etc., etc., etc.? If you thought my response was the same as yours with a different flavor, you're not very bright.

Lemme tell you something - many sign up who are not low-income but who feel a duty to protect us. Yes, they know the risks but they choose to go anyway sans politics. That you somehow align that with being lied to does a dead serviceman a great disservice. And on this weekend, shame on you for that.

Please folks. Memorial Day is not to debate the reasons for war but to honor those that died defending and protecting.

My family served and although everyone came back from duty I can't even imagine the hardship created when someone did not.

So let's honor those who served and did not return and keep the debate for the reason of the conflict for another day.

Actually ANY honorably discharged veteran (not just combat veterans) may have a military burial service (actual burial or cremation) at a civilian or veteran's cemetery of their choice. Depending on location, the honor guard may be provided by the nearest military base or VFW post. Funeral homes should be well-prepared to coordinate the military burial and all that is normally required is a copy of the veteran's discharge certificate. Refer http://www.dd214.us/funeral.html

Eligibility for burial at Arlington National Cemetery includes all active duty members, military retirees, and their spouses. Refer the Arlington website http://www.arlingtoncemetery.mil/funeralinfor...
