There is no evidence that Zimmerman made a choice to engage Martin. Zimmerman claims that it was the other way around.

There was clearly engagement.

No solid evidence either way with regard to initiation. Witness 8's testimony comes closest.

I see no violation of CCW laws...if anyone was on private property where they didn't belong, it was Ashtray.
And I notice how you sweep Ashtray's thug record under the rug.
well he didn't follow anybody almost all the way to their house (martin) nor did he get caught breaking any laws.
Zimmerman was told by police not to follow martin. You can hear his door chime from his auto in the call to the police dispatcher. He then pursued martin on foot. Before he got out of the car you can hear zimmerman saying in the call something like "these guys always get away" or something to that effect. Do you know what zimmerman isn't? Smart, let alone fit or a police officer. http://m.youtube.com/watch...
Oh no a black kid went to the store, I better follow him to his back yard and then when he attacks me for following him shoot him. Look he's walking, now he's running. So what? You're following him!

You asked why Zimmerman would engage if he was in such bad shape. That implies a choice to engage. There is no evidence that he made such a choice. From his account, it appears that the engagement was thrust upon him.

"His" backyard? That thug lived 150 miles away and was a guest in a gated community that had been suffering from a ton of break ins. Then he acts like a thug by attacking Zimmerman, but hey...he's a good boy right?(Never mind the pot, vandalism at school, stolen jewelry, swinging at the bus driver.)

But, Trayvon isn't here to give his account.

Again, what we know is that Zimmerman was chasing and Trayvon was running away.

And Zimmerman articulated some determination to keep this one from getting away.

Zimmerman said they are always getting away. Once the dispatcher told him that they didn't need him to follow Trayvon he said he quit following him. It was at that point, when he was walking back to his car, that he says Trayvon attacked him.

For most of the chase, Zimmerman was driving.
Also, Zimmerman was about 100 lbs lighter than his current bloated self.
And if he didn't believe himself equal to the task, why engage? Unless he felt that the gun gave him the upper hand.
If someone attacks you from behind then you have every right to engage.

Start with the 'ton' of break-ins.

George Zimmerman called police 46 times in the years before he shot Trayvon Martin. As far as the cops were concerned, that wasn’t excessive in a neighborhood fighting petty crime, reports Amy Green.

Conversations with several residents, however, suggest that Zimmerman’s calls reflect a wider feeling of concern and distrust in the community. For years, Twin Lakes residents had been on edge—demonstrated by their decision last September to start a neighborhood-watch organization, which was initiated by Zimmerman himself. The burglary of Olivia Bertalan’s home was just one of at least eight reported over the previous 14 months—several of which, neighbors said, involved young black men.

Naturally, in your hood, those numbers are a weekly tally.

Don't know how to break this to you, but it looks like Zimmerman lied.

If he turned around wnen he says he did and walked toward his truck at a normal pace he would have gotten to the 't' about a minute before he got off the phone with the dispatcher. Add to that his reluctance to agree to meet the police at his truck and its pretty clear he meant to contnue the hunt, and he did. And then he lied about it.

Reader, you can scour the Sanford PD records yourself. The Daily Beast is a leftist site that should satisfy you, but since you've been handed facts you don't like you cry for "documentation."

Interviewing neighbors who report a perception of crime with break-ins by young black men tells us something. Just not what you want it to. Perception is not always realith you know.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ha

Do you? see definition

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Documentation

Oddly on the definition page I did not see this anywhere.

Documentation:
a.News stories that fit neatly into FKA Reader beliefs of the way things might have happened

b. News stories from far left wing, white guilt publications that also serve to re enforce FKA Readers pre conceived white guilt notion that Zimmerman is guilty.

c. News stories released by the Black Grievance Industry

Here is a fact for ya
Once the jury sees this photo (documenting Z's injuries) taken by a police officer at the scene, the "trial" is over and Z walks.(and they will see it)

Several different things going on here, WW. First, I do believe that George Zimmerman murdered Trayvon Martin. And at this point, it's a good bit more than a gut feeling.
Now--I'm not going to lay any bets on the outcome of the trial. I was one who believed in OJ's guilt also, and was surprised when he got off. But, as an interested observer in this case, Zimmerman does not have anything like the legal team that OJ had. We know already that he killed Trayvon becuause he told the police, immediately. So--there is far less case that has to be built by the prosuction. We already know he was there and he pulled the trigger and that this was the reason that Trayvon died.
If the judge grants the motions in limine just filed by the prosecution, the defense case shrinks considerably. They will not be able to base their case on defamation of Trayvon's character through previous school records, social media posts, references to gold teeth or an array of nicknames or "handles" that he may have used. All of these are irrelevant to the question at hand and with an in limine ruling the defense won't even get to introduce them and have them ruled on after the jury has heard them.
Now, there are a number of true believers here who swear that Zimmerman acted in self-defense. It would be nice if they could produce some evidence other than their personal belief that Trayvon was a thug. Nice for Zimmerman that is. Because without evidence, all he has on his side is his story. And he will have to convince a jury with it. And he will have to withstand cross examination challenging him on every detail that has altered along the way and every piece that doesn't fit with the known timeline, the location of the body, the audio analysis and the DNA findings.
I wouldn't be surprised, in this divided country, by a hung jury.
