Education Week's annual rating is widely recognized. Ohio's overall ranking was 5th when Kasich came in. It has fallen twice and now stands at 12th. The finance ranking considers far more than the amount of funding, focusing primarily on equity issues.
Equity issues? Like English?

The courts are known to show a bias toward women in divorce cases, it helps to portray a man negatively in court cases.
Ummm, don't divorce attorneys represent men, as well?

BTW--you got any sort of data to back up that "known" bias toward women in divorce cases?

Just wondering.

Your plan for removing guns from criminals, who have obtained them illegally and will continue to obtain them illegally, is what?
One would imagine that current law enforcement efforts would continue.

However, we can close some of the means of transfer of guns from legal owners to illegal owners through closing the gun show loophole and requiring that private sales be handled in such a was as to also meet the same requirements (perhaps buyers being empowered to obtain their own background checks and some sort of documentation of clearance).

But, it is also worth considering that if there are fewer guns in circulation, there are fewer guns to steal.

I take it your plan is to do nothing?

I don't like the idea of "public schools" it establishes this ugly idea that you are "owed things" by the state, which it can then take in taxes in the future, by whatever the "majority" wants.
What I want to see happen is "vouchers for all", and preferably the abolishment of the property and income tax, for a sole consumption based taxing system.
I see no benefits to a system that exists by formenting class warfare, tinged with racial resentment.
If the people desire to spend 10K/student, then they should pay the property/income taxes themselves to pay for it, not demand to harvest the income taxes of another jurisdiction.
Any deal the left comes up with will carry with it higher taxes, that's the destructive policies that are bringing down New York, California, France and Illinois.
True reform should grease the skids towards privatization and online education.
I rather suspect that your objection is more deeply rooted in your aversion to responsibility than any real evidence of school children feeling "owed" something. Your "vouchers for all" still requires taxation and transfer of dollars from the pockets of earners to the purchase of education services. Of course, vouchers have the "advantage" of allowing capitalist educators to operate schools for profit--thus decreasing the amount of education or increasing the amount of taxation.

You seem to also believe that vouchers should only provide some minimum level of education--allowing those who are better resourced to pay more and receive more. Hard to believe that you are missing the class-competitive features of such a system. And, in economic terms you are completely missing the reality that we are no longer reliant on large numbers of poorly educated laborers in the process of production. To the extent that we continue to turn out roughly the same percentages of such folks as we did over 50 years ago, they become a drag economically--reliant on public assistance, or criminal endeavors. And you still haven't figured out how we can bring down the cost of imprisonment.

Where is the funding inequity? Columbus Public gets tons of money from the suburbs (you're welcome!), and spends more per pupil with less desirable results.

Any advisor worth his salt will tell a male client in a divorice or custody, or any case really where the opposing party is a woman, to use a woman attorney to represent him.

With the exception of Gloria Alrich.

If men are not the object of discrimination , why is the minority discount on federal job bids still applied to companies owned by women?

And Reader don't say that is not true. 6was9 straightened you out on that a few months back, and I have experience with it myself.

Here is the link to the complete breakdown: http://www.edweek.org/ew/qc/2013/state_report...

Under finance, there are two categories: Equity and Spending. We actually did worse this year with regard to spending--owing to Kasich's cuts. Another category in which Ohio did very poorly was in college preparedness.

Huge leap from federal job bids (btw--in the earlier discussion I was discussion state, not fed bidding) to bias in divorce courts, don't you think?

And I don't suppose that the advise for men to be represented by women in divorce court is actually written down anywhere? Or is this just another of those "everybody knows" factoids?

But Strickland's cuts were, of course, well planned and needed because those cuts improved test scores?

College preparedness is not officially measured, nor is it uniformly defined.

Kuwait had lent billions to Iraq to fund the Iraq-Iran War.
Saddam didn't want to pay back the debt. The Baathists were also angry that Kuwait even existed, mainly as a British buffer state by cutting off Iraq from access to the sea.
Kuwait also has a ton of oil, and they probably were slant drilling, but that was never conclusively proven, and in some ways reminds me of Michael Moore's accusation that Afghanistan was about a pipeline.
According to George Piro who led the interrogations of Saddam after his capture, the real reason for invading Kuwait had more to do with a comment about Iraqi women being prostitutes or cheap whores. This is something Saddam himself iterated at the start of his trial in Iraq. I think the quote is something along the lines of Kuwaitis are dogs who try to turn Iraqi women into 2 penny prostitutes.

Have you ever considered that private operators can be more efficient and that the public model is inefficient?
You are locked into a zero-sum theory that any dollars taken as "profit" makes the system less efficient. That's Marxism.
The last time I checked, we have millions of college graduates "overeducated" for their low-earning positions.
That's a call to emphasize vocational/tech schools.
Education like healthcare is not a right, positive "rights" do not exist, they are socialist thefts.
Rights are negative, not positive. The US public education system wastes piles of money, but outside of its underclass jurisdictions, it performs just as well as Europe does.
The problem isn't money, its underclass culture.
Your theory on rights being positive or negative is mere claptrap of your own mind. Fact of the matter is that the Ohio Constitution guarantees every child resident an education.

And just where do you think the money is coming from to pay for vouchers?
