I don't care what the 'data available' to you says.
What I stated about non union workers making 'union rate' is absolutely true and has been going on for awhile. Go out in the real world and see for yourself.
You really ought to stop and consider why that is.

I know. My dad was almost killed trying to cross a picket line. All he wanted to do was work and support his family. I have DESPISED unions ever since. If YOU want to join one, that's your right, but you shouldn't be able to FORCE someone that doesn't want to to join.
Way back, my grandfather worked for an oil company as a driver. He was a young man. Some union came in and made a bid to 'organize' the employees. They'd have goons outside the yard every morning. My grandfather was leaving the yard in his truck and a brick was thrown through the window and hit him in the shoulder. He never went back. He took his family to New England and started training race horses. He did very well and so did two of his sons, his grand-nephew, my brother and two of his sons. In my job, I work with thoroughbreds and I live on what was Dad's horse farm.
I will never forget that story of the brick. What if it had hit him in he head?

Because of course, you have studied the rates of pay for union versus non-union workers across the entire nation, factoring in economic benefits like vacation and health and life insurance, and come to that conclusion as opposed to just looking at the anecdotal evidence that you have personally experienced. Right?

I'm not sure you do. You look at the history of why Davis Bacon was enacted and it will tell you quite clearly.

You said something to the effect that it took you a year or so to get back to the pay you were originally making. No mention of benefits at either job.
I can understand that you would be ticked. That was a lot of money back then.
But my guess is that the union probably achieved getting some benefits in negotiations for the workers after you left that they weren't getting before, and I'm also guessing that a year or two after you left the wage being paid for your prior position went right back up to where you were as well.

look how well the Union served its members at Hostess.

I messed up

Should of had a Union negotiate my contract so I could collect unemployment.

I guess doing it my way just increased my income; but forces me to earn it.

Had a Union negotiated for me, I would have been fired.

None of it had anything to do with mismanagement, or failure to respond to market conditions or consumer desires in a timely manner, I'm sure.

I didn't need to twist your words to make you look like a hypocrite. Again, no one is forced to pay union dues. Unions contribute money to gain influence. The NRA contributes money to gain influence. You probably ought to look again at how much the NRA spends.
Sure sport whatever you say. You're an idiot.

LOL Well, no. That's actually what happened. And it's been a great life. Some of the men on my Dad's side of the family were natural horsemen. I'm knowledgeable, and sort of have the 'eye', but nothing like three of them did.

it is always someone else's fault according to you

I listed your 5 local companies; and you blame mismanagement for all 5.

responding to market conditions.......Hostess said very clearly they could not increase product price and remain competitive in nature. The union played your blame game; and insisted Hostess raise pay or strike.

So Hostess went on strike permanently.

PS: all of the local companies for you I listed did the exact same thing. Exactly how many more jobs do you want to flee your area?

Ah ha! I know Davis Bacon. Have to referto it for some of my husband's paperwork obligations. But, you're right, not why it was enacted.

To use this data effectively to make a point, you need to collect a bit more.

Showing 5 companies using union labor doesn't really make a point. Asking [and answering for your readers] basic questions like...

At what rate have union jobs been lost in the past X years?
How does this compare to non union jobs in the same market in the past X years?
At what rate have companies using union labor closed operations or ceased trading in the window of X years?
At what rate have companies not using union labor closed operations of ceased trading in the same window?

Would render the currently useless anecdotal information you've offered very, very relevant.

If I say Mary, Sue and Tomoki are all failing math and they're all women with dark hair, this alone wouldn't have you assume that there is a link between the two variables, without other data, would it?

That's precisely what you've offered. I don't really see how you could be offended, offering anecdotes as evidence and then having them labelled anecdotal...?!

Absolutely, it would.

And then he'd ask, "What kind of a name is Tomoki? Fricking commies for parents?"
