Could I inject a question that I have been wondering about?

Do you reckon Obama should push along gun control, before all of the Tea Party, NRA members hide their assault rifles? Oh! I almost forgot, those lying Republicans.

laser focus on job creation

who lied about that?

PS: Obama is the greatest gun salesman of all time.

PSS: Obama lied about laser focus....his only focus is class war. He will lose that war as well.

Uh, civil wars are not typically initiated by the government in power.
You know, what would be the point?
So--what do you see as rebel forces?
this administration is creating civil war, so as always your post is incorrect.

rebel force?.....how about the half that did not vote for Obama; and the half with all the guns, ammo; and money to buy more.

looks like your half is soon to be extinct if not careful.

so....the point.......your side loses yet again.

I see you still haven't grasped the concept of ex post facto.

It's Article 1, Section 9.

That might be a good reason to organize now, if one really perceives some danger.

Seems like there were homeland security dollars available for that sort of thing not too long ago. Generally for building the kind of infrastructure to be able to respond meaningfully and effectively to a variety of disaster situations--whether attack, weather or epidemic.

As for "obsession," you need a dictionary. My swipe at the poster was for his engaging in Walt's tactics.
So, where is the documentation is the question, George.

Not defending anyone. Is it at all possible for someone to raise something with you without you perceiving some kind of conspiracy against you?

Begs the question, RS. In the coming class war, which side are you on?

the side that will win handily.

you know....the side that can afford ammo.....lots of it.

PS: the floorboards in your hood house would crash to the basement due to the weight of ammo already stockpiled here.

So it begs a question from you.

Businesses deal with cost uncertainties all the time.

showing how stupid you are again?

who owns businesses?

Santa?

And who pays half of the payroll deducted tax rate of employees?

businesses.

who pays taxes on investment?

business owners, anyone with a mutual fund or stock certificate.

in 2013 around 3% in payroll deducted taxes needs refigured to be paid by both employee and employer.

Also that 47% that in the past paid ZERO tax now will be.

do you think that overnight all the systems will be updated to do that?

PS: that business that Santa owns just got hit with a 5% tax hike. Who do you suppose really pays that extra 5% Miss Smarty?

now go bake some cookies....you can handle that; but let people who understand finance handle the heavy lifting. You are going to hurt yourself.

We weren't talking about rebuilding society, we were talking about eating. Most people I know DO have stockpiles, and more than a few days' worth, which will come in handy should something falter in the wintertime. Good luck to you and yours if you truly believe that the good ol' days are coming back, where the dollar is strong and people respect other people and their property, and you can run to the 24 hour store for whatever you might need. And you think MY generation was bad!

I see a rather significant difference between keeping an adequate stock of certain kinds of non-perishable food on hand for emergencies and stockpiling arms on the assumption that something bad WILL be coming and that when it does we all need to be prepared to kill our neighbors in order to survive, which is where this conversation began.

As far as what I believe about good ol days, well, it is axiomatic that whatever ol days one remembers, they were never as good in the living as they are in memory. Nonetheless, I do not believe that America's best days are done. Not only have we weathered economic crises in the past, but there has always been some economic cycling. I also believe that the choices that we make as a nation matter and that government policies do have a variety of impacts on both the economy as a whole, but also on the ability of individuals to succeed.

You go with the tax code as it exists, then change when the code changes. It's all you CAN do. As I understand it, tax issues have been agreed upon, but both sides are pissing their pants at the thought of having to cut any spending (they will though, because their tax hikes are going to result in LESS revenue... unless they plan on voting to raise the debt ceiling to $19 trillion, which is about what they'll need to keep current spending, and to cover the revenue losses).
