Maybe if these people had someone coming at them with a knife they would think differently, Myself If it happened to me I would want to see my family at the end of my shift. He did the right thing.

Wouldn't a taser have dropped her so that he could subdue her? Couldn't he have shot her in the leg or elsewhere so that she wouldn't have to die from it? Maybe some self defense on his part that he is trained for at the Academy could have been used to disarm her? She could have been given help- if she really wanted to die then she would not have threatened to do it, she would have just done it. They called him to help not kill. If the officer is so threatened by a woman with a knife that he needs to kill her, maybe he ought to find another job, like a security guard at a marshmallow factory. I can't help but think that if she had been rich and beautiful she wouldn't have ended up dead.

its easy for people people to say maybe he could have used his stun gun or his club or mace to subdue her. this type of situation happens in seconds. by the time he got his stun gun out she would have had a knife stuck in his chest.when this shit happens im reaching for my gun, that i know will stop the agression and i can go home to my family. for the ones that 2nd guess cops decisions, i would bet my money you would have shot her also he if you where put in that position, but you dont have worry about that your setting in the comfort of your home bad mouthing the cops on there decisions. but if something bad happens at your home who are you going to call.the cops.

And how many of you have had a mentally distressed person come at you with a knife? Oh, yeah. None of you.

I suppose you would use a non lethal weapon, like a taser, against a lethal weapon like a knife.

I guess the Officer wanted to see his family and friends more than this distressed woman wanted to listen to reason and get help.

The Officer did a job that no one wants to do.

I am glad he is physically fine. Now he must deal with the mental issues that come with taking a life.

Stay focused and know you did what had to be done.

Why is it necessary to always try an identify the officer after such an incident? Isnt it enough that the guy could have been hurt and he did the community a favor? Leave the guy alone and give him an atta-boy for a job well done and that the officer is safe.

Great Job!!!!!!
No officers were hurt and the suicidal person was not given the chance to hurt anyone else.
The officer did what he was trained to do. He did the right thing. I am 100% behind him!

These whiners would never shoot anyone, and most of them probably couldn't defend themselves if they had to. They'd panic, freeze, and get cut to ribbons by the crazy woman with the knife.

Prayers for the cop and the woman's family. They've all got some heavy stuff to handle.

Well DAM she came at him with a knife. I would have dropped her to. The cop has the right to go home to his family after the end of his/her shift.

I knew misty, she was a recovering addict and she was a great mother to her child! I'm really going to miss her. She didn't deserve this. Shot once yes possibly, but the 2nd bullet went through her hand that was holding her chest.. did you all know that? Don't say what should of happened because we haven't been put in the situation, but I do believe in my opinion there were other ways to handle the situation without deadly force. She was a mental patient and all of the lancaster PD knew that.

RIP Misty Shook, you are missed hun!!! A great life taken. I <3 you!

If he had to shoot her it could have been in the leg not 2 not 3 times in the chest then turn around and threaten to shoot the dog! I think it's a lil too much of a ppower trip and they should take his gun away n give him a flashlight....
