That may be the case if registering a formerly used unregistered name from the same address or email address.
However, the last time that George got banned, I'm pretty sure the counter went to zero.
Yes it did. The last six times, at least.

I have been banned before. I posted unregistered, then I signed up and registered. The registered name sucked in all the unregistered posts I made and added them to my count of my registered name.
Rrrrriiiggghhhttt.

If it tracks by ip address, as you are implying, wouldn't it stand to reason that if a user is banned, they would block that ip address?

No Bob, whatever name you registered, only counted the number of posts that registered account made. Not any prior, unregistered posts nor any subsequent ones made if the registered account is banned.

Possibly where I may be in error is that you made posts as one name from one email address, then registered another name but used that email address. It might tally all posts from that email address. Once Zero gets banned, he can't re-register from any of the email addresses he's used and gotten banned in the past. He's admitted himself that he has plenty of free email addresses.

Topix gets into your hard drive and keeps count that way. It has nothing to do with the email address used.

You and Reader both need to do some research on Topix and your hard drive.

Do you know what a firewall is?

Research a little, you're starting to look a little foolish.

p.s. I access Topix from my ipad sometimes and it doesn't have a hard drive.
