Good thing it only took 3 years after Kent State to build it. And that statue to him...is it still on the North lawn of the statehouse?

Rhodes is the most significant figure in the history of Ohio, since 1803 no one else has had more of an impact in the politics of the state.

And I say that as a person critical of the large growth in government under his tenure in the city and the state.

Figures that the left always hates history, and never learns that it repeats itself.

No Gammy.

I'm not fond of filthy politicians who take advantage of crises while in the midst of a political campaign in order to acquire capital. Sending soldiers armed with live ammunition to respond a riot on college campus when classes are in session is not the decision of a responsible elected leader.

The man was an opportunist, with blood of innocent kids on his hands.

I agree with you about the, ahem, overkill. But that will not stop me from laughing at the stupid leftists who choose rocks against rifle cartridges. And fwiw, I skipped school to go over to OSU and watch the riots and it was cool as hell for a kid to see and for a spell back then I was sympathetic to the left's ideas. However, leftism is for foolish kids or retarded adults.

I think everybody flirts with liberalism in college. Just didn't take with me once I started reading trying to put it all together. Once you allow yourself the intellectual freedom to escape the hermetically sealed community of socialist thought it falls apart very quickly. When you can intellectually put the lie to "compassion", and the guilt looses it's power you can use what is between your ears. I can now reason with the force of emotion just as the non thinking bleeders.

Jim Rhodes built our very nice highway system, airports in every county, brought Honda to Ohio and killed a bunch of hippie maggots at Kent State. Every governor should be so successful.

You don't live here Bob. You have no idea what you are talking about. I know some of those people.

You do realize that the "riots" were over, the KSU Administration made a conscious decision to keep classes in session despite the fact that the NG was on campus with live ammuntion on May 4, 1970, and that some of those shot were simply walking to class, don't you?

Bwah bwah bwah. Maybe they should have been running to cover. These hippies were children of WW2 vets or at least nieces and nephews of same, and had they listened to their elders rather than defy and rebel against them, they would have heard and learned stories of the wonderful and life-preserving properties of cover. Jeeesh, within the line of sight of men with rifles and stoners simply walk to class...well, to hear you tell it. Say, once hit did they then transition over to a low crawl to class?
