No matter what format, the spring game/scrimmage is always a great way to end "spring training" for the football program. Go Bucks offense and Go Bucks defense. Here's hoping everybody comes out of it healthy.

My problem is that I don't know whether to cheer or to groan when there is a big play.

With the weather looking like it is, the injuries, and the suspensions, this is shaping up to be one of the most boring spring games in the history of OSU football. Defense runs away with this one...

It might be different but from this week's reports it might be the best thing to do. The O-line sounds like it needs a lot of work and this seems the best way to try to gain some unit cohesion. Splitting the would be starters on the O-line onto different teams is not going to help in that regard. It will be interesting to see how the QB playing time is distributed among Bauserman, Guiton, Miller, and Graham. Equally intriguing is how the thin receiving corps fares and if the QB's can get the ball to them. Defensively, losing Donny Evege has probably been the worst blow for the team. The secondary could not afford a loss like that.

Let's face it, the news from spring ball has not been real positive this year. Combine that with the Tattoo 5 and Tressel's indiscretions and it is the most dismal outlook and pessimistic feeling I have had about OSU football in a long time. This was going to be a tougher year without the controversy. Spring reports seem to have confirmed that all the more.

The Dispatch and other media venues have had a lot more less than positive stories than usual for spring ball. It could be influenced in part by a gloomy shadow over OSU football in general. But when the O-line has its woes, the receivers can't catch and the QB's are struggling, it is not too encouraging. I just have to keep reminding myself that it is only April and that things can improve over the next 5 months.

It would be nice to have the "coaches quotes" coming from Fickel

Enjoy the Spring Game. Only 5 months to regular season kick-off. We will continue to argue about our teams but we will agree that college football is the greatest sport on planet Earth.

The head coach marked his territory and said that he is the man "24/6". All Luke is going to get is unfair credit for any losses.

I concur. The defense knows all the offensive plays and what to look for in their reads. A rediculous situation!! They might as well be in the huddle!

You haven't seen many coaches' quotes at all, and here's why:

Tressel and Fickell were available to reporters at a March 30 press conference.

Tressel spoke for 10 minutes on a Big Ten conference call on April 13.

That's it. No other media availability for either one.

tOSU is very low on experience and depth. The spring game will only validate what the rest of the nation already knows - the Suckeyes are NO contender - just a pretender.

Here what I would like to see.
Let Tressel take O1 and D2 and give Fickel O2 & D1
Then they divide the rest of the team.
Each coach prepares his own game plan and let them play a real game.

I'm hoping they put together some type of team by the time they play Miami down here. I've been looking forward to getting to see the Buckeye's play down here for years and now all this "stuff" happens.

It is easy to be a contender in a weak Big 10 conference. If the Buckeyes played in the SEC they have at least three league losses per year. GO GATORS!!! GO SEC!!!

Just because a person is not a Buckeye fanatic and is stating his opinion that the 2011 ffotball team does not look very good on paper does not make him a HATER!

FYI...Coop didn't recruit...Conley did. Give credit where credit is due. We need Bill back in the recruiting scene. One of the best...ever.

As the major newspaper in town, and obviously huge supporter, I would demand access to the coaches and team, or refuse to cover them at all.

Poor, pathetic MisterTOO, you can't wait to see the Buckeyes fall, can you? You can't stand the fact that they are 6-3 in BCS games, can you? You spend time posting on a web site about a team you hate. You must have really low self esteem.
