Working out potential responses

We don't know if this was an Islamist (AP hates this word) though I estimate 75% chance that it is.

If it can be somehow characterized as a right wing extremist, Reader is preparing an all out assault to blame Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and George for being somehow responsible.

After all, I was the "most dangerous poster", and several forum leftists have suggested that I would be a terrorist, based on incorrectly interpreted statements about my response to hypothetical future government tyranny.

IMO, if this isn't Islamist, I'm assuming some kind of Occupy/"Anarchists" similar to those idiots that the FBI busted wanting to blow up a bridge in NEO.

Oh if it turns out to be a conservative regardless of race,
Reader and her buddies will spew 24 /7 on topix.
I doubt that will be the case though.
If the bomber is like the 1996 Atlanta Olympics bomber, we are almost certain to face a DHS attack.

Even more if he was a Glenn Beck listener.

A guy shot 2 cops in Pittsburgh a few years ago, and supposedly he was a fan of Beck, the left really got loud when that happened.

Note that the guy was a raving Jew hater, but Beck was still blamed.

Reader, definitely working out the response as a spin cycle. In a few days, I'd bet we'll see her doing acrobatics verbally.

I have absolutely NO response to potential perps here...too many unknowns, and obvious to me whoever this was, used the event and its crowds because 1) easy cover in crowds, 2) perfect media event for it, 3) planned it and well. Sad. I expect Reader to be doing double time with the verbal acrobatics if the guilty part is Muslim.

They missed on a big thing though: They didn't realize that that if you were going to suffer horrific trauma, that spot was probably the best place on the planet for it to happen...scores of MDs, RNs and paramedics already there at the Medical tent and EIGHT world renowned Level I trauma centers within two miles of the scene. If you couldn't be saved there today, no place else in the world could have saved you, either.

Agreed. That thought went through my head a couple of times. Near MassGen, Boston Medical, and Tufts and others?!? I couldn't get a clear idea that they actually wanted to do a mass killing but instead thought a mass hysteria was planned.

That's the big impact of terrorism, it costs a lot of money.

Imagine if marathons require for insurance purposes thousands of rent-a-cops

This will cost the city millions, if not hundreds of millions when you consider the tourism impact.

And on the other hand, my thinking also is "meh" to the idea of money.

Look at NYC. I was there exactly two months post-9/11. Not a shred of fear, although my now ex husband and mom though I was crazy to go with the kids. And admittedly, I usually live sans fear. Yes, there was an immediate impact to NYC and Manhattan economically, but what was the ultimate response? Rebuild, on the same spot. Almost as if it is, in some respects, a huge FU to those who terrorized use there and in other respects a huge monument to our resilience. Tourism came back fairly quickly to Manhattan as did business when you consider the huge impact of that attack.

Americans "get over" these incidents in terms of dollar impacts (translate that into fear of going to an area) rather quickly. So I have to wonder: what really was the purpose of this bombing?!

The offspring of arab immigrants. The immigrants themselves may be very pro America but the kid will have some kind of birth defect.

Very true Gokeefe. After 9/11 the first time I ventured out to a group event was 17 days later. Hubby and I went to a Neil Diamond concert for my birthday...I would be lying if I didn't admit to having trepidations. Neil came out, unfurled a huge American flag and opened with "America". Beautiful. When President Bush ordered that the flag be raised from half staff, we were at a Crew game. A fly over and watching the flag raise again, goosebumps. We are a resilient nation.

No doubt Reader is disappointed that early reports indicate the perpetrator(s) to have been dark skinned and speaking in a middle eastern dialect which does fit Reader's play book. Never fear, Reader is observing and reading all these sorts posts like a tiger, ready to pounce at just the right moment.
