Well, more precisely, what a reasonable person might believe.
The fact remains, you don't have to be seriously injured (on in fact injured at ALL) to have a valid self defense claim (take the example of someone shooting at you but missing, for instance). The injuries and their severity are, technically, completely irrelevant.

You think they were born and raised here? They'd be part of the 15% if that's the case.
Maybe they're booners. We have a couple of dozen here.

Yes Tony, but the reasonably perceived threat, and more importantly, the actors own conduct in causing the altercation, or removing himself from it if possible, certainly are relevant.

One cannot unjustifiably instigate an unnecessary altercation and then pretend he played no role in making his own self defense necessary in the first place.

The law only mentions "in the act of committing a crime" (or something to that effect) as a barrier to the claim of self defense. It does not say being stupid is a barrier (that was, by the way, a concession to the leftists when the law was created).

Zimmerman was likely hoping for an early out of court settlement to finance his defense.
Remind me. Which judge is going to hear this lawsuit, and when?

If GZ assaulted him, that's all that's necessary. I have a feeling that requirement was met.
