<quoted text>Maybe not, but somebody elses gun will neutralize the attacker. Note that the first unarmed Metropolitan "police" who arrived did nothing more than stand back and block the street at both ends while the body lay on the pavement and the murderers got their camera time.
Disagree Georgie re: your first sentence. I'm all for CCW, but I highly doubt that someone carrying a gun would keep their sanity as they watched the events unfold. We are talking split second decisions; the hatchet is already wielded before a person can pull their gun.

I am disturbed by the story...more disturbed at the person that took the video.

Though helpful, that advice was not exactly what I meant.
I mean "reading" the people around you and always being prepared to defend yourself and others.
You realize that even a gal with a pocket pepper blaster could have immobilized the attackers?
Before or after the attack? I will not play potato vs. pahtato ala Reader as I respect you.

I'm disturbed that someone took a video, his words of "an eye for an eye", and the gruesomeness of the incident.

Look at the Oregon mall shooting a few months ago. The CCW holder saved lives.
My point is that an uninjured permit holder can subdue the attacker before he strikes again...protecting others and offering the victim a chance at medical help rather than bleeding out in the streets.

"...hundreds of people fled the mall after hearing the gunshots, but many remained inside and dashed to cover. Roberts headed further toward the food court, firing at 16-year-old employee Alina Pavlenko, who was over 100 feet away, but missed. He then turned back and headed toward a JCPenney store. He attempted to reload the AR-15 at that point, but was unable to do so, the weapon having apparently jammed. During that time, Nick Meli, a concealed carry permit holder, drew his Glock 22, and took aim at Roberts but did not fire since there was an innocent person behind Roberts. Meli asserts that Roberts saw him, and that this may have contributed to Roberts' decision to commit suicide."[1][2]

And that is why one must always be acutely aware of his/her surroundings -- a lesson I drilled into the heads of my children.
Ahh, don't think that the threat will be from just 'darker' jihadis. I believe the Shitcheans in Boston would be white in classification.

The interesting thing to me is all the "peaceful" Muslims standing around watching and even walking past the bloody hands Muslim during the interview. The peaceful Muslims realize that the "radical" Muslims are merely following the Koran's mandate to kill the infidel and establish a world wide Islamic Empire.
The monsters are among us now. We must end the treason of open borders and keep our guns and Bibles ready to battle the forces of darkness.
I understand and agree with keeping our guns ready, but what are you going to do with a bible? Throw it at 'em? Whack 'em upside the head?

I disagree. I fault anyone who was around for not stepping up and trying to stop these guys. Hatchet or not. If someone there had had a gun, I would think it might be one of the first thoughts to pop into his or her head.

Not disagreeing with you regarding that situation. Lives are lost, lives are saved. Someone that wants to do ill will towards someone, will succeed and a gun will not deter.

Before, during or after....all are possibilities, as George said.
Observant, prepared citizens can be very effective deterrents.

Thanks for respecting me more than Reader.

No, but it will end it. Luby's in 1991 and Virginia Tech in 2009 are textbook examples of mass killings that each killed over 20 people and could have been stopped at one or two dead if concealed carry had been allowed.
