I'd want to keep the old, bi-centennial one.

DE doesn't require a front plate. Never has. But our population is what? 1000th of Ohio?

Any tag under #70,000 is considered antique and can be in black and white, although I've seen them with higher #'s on cheaters. I have a 42000 on on the Buick and 9348 on the Jeep. No extra charge for them. The other car has the farmland presevation tag, but I have name of the farm instead of a #, so that's a vanity plate and it's $30. a year, I think. I keep my tags for life. People actually advertise in the classifieds and Craig list to buy or sell the black and whites.

So that was pretty boring I admit.

I have the Bicentennial Plates, they are still in good condition and I like them. I'll probably pay extra to keep my number.
I have a feeling the $cameras are having trouble reading them, though.
Keep your tag the rest of your life. Seriously.

Seems to be lower than the standard fee, and is not being manipulated as a sole revenue source as in NY/PA where the fee was in the hundreds.
Seems like another attempt at a backdoor tax hike, but it probably swims through. Using the referendum to strike it down, is hard, and the public unions would give us any extorted dues to pay for the campaign to get rid of it, rather they would be advocating more taxes.
Why aren't you cheering it? Kasich is being bipartsian and "moderate".

Two more years as governor and eight in the white house, am I right?
You are quite the anti-government, no tax, rabble rouser. What a hoot. Your republican governor engages in a blatant money grab and you justify it. Incredible.

So replacing plates every 7 years for $10 equals a whopping 70 cents per year. Big deal.
I don't care about the cost, I just like my current plates and I like my current number. It's easy to remember.

I'm not a collector per se - I'm a minimalist and hate clutter. But I probably will hang them up in the garage because I like them.

I'm not pleased with it, but you should be, and are not.

I've had the same set of personalized CBJ plates since 2005.

You are a leftist, you want more spending and taxes.

Heck, I'd tolerate increases if the roads actually got built faster and repaired.

I do? Huh. One of us doesn't know what I want. I wonder which one of us that is.

Replacing car plates would be required under budget proposal
Ohioans might have to pay $10 every seven years to replace their license plates, starting with cars still running around with gold plates or bicentennial plates which the state would recall beginning in December.

They should allow those who were "forced" to buy those ugly farm plates an even exchange. Looks like something a kid draws in first grade.

Have you seen the new standard plates? They're just about as bad:

They let students at CCAD design the plates, which is kind of weird since the University of Cincinnati's graphic design program is considered one of the top schools in the country.

The farm plates are hit or miss. On some cars the look good, on others not so good.

The temporary tag version of the new plate looks "okay" . I can live with the new plates.

The sunburst plate (the one before the farm plate) was the best one, IMO. Clean and simple look.

According to the video, the envelope design is supposed to be reminiscent of the flight and of the shape of the state flag.
