B.S. There are state workers there. They can get their own darned money. Plus they don't allow guns. Why would you not allow gun in a kids hospital? What if my family is attacked by a crazy nurse. What will we do.
Don't spend my funny money on this.

Money is so tight, but he can pledge money that he has no clue where it is coming from. Scary.

Actually, not a bad way to spend money in a time when we need to cut. Hospitals need to be more intertwined.

I'd like to know why Cincinnati Children's Hospital wasn't included. They rank so far above Nationwide Children's in many areas.

We're NOT state workers at Nationwide Children's Hospital. And some of these kids are here because stupid people own guns.

Becuz Kasich is so impulsive and just does things without doing his homework. Cops are idiots. Get on the bus or get run over. Bob Evans gives shabby benefits to its workers. etc etc. ad infinitum.

Is the Governor on crack? He goes out to plug one plan and commits $2 million from an unidentified source to another--without even consulting his budget director?

It may well be a very worthy cause, but how much of this shoot-from-the-hip act-before-you-think non-planning and largesse can the state afford? Does the Gov just automatically go into suck-up mode when there are CEOs in the room?

Whether or not it's a good idea to support hospitals, this is reckless behavior.

Leave it to some liberals to complain when children are being helped. Typical.

Reading comprehension isn't a strength of yours is it?...

That's wonderful fiscal responsibility and incredible pre-planning on his part... What happened to "no funding until there is matching cuts" somewhere else? Kasich to himself - "I know where the money will come from - I'll take it from some poor old woman on food stamps. She doesn't need to eat. And right now I need to impress all of these people in suits so let's just make something up to make myself look good." What a joke.

Typical politician. Why didn't he pledge some of his own money for a change?

The article makes Kasich look like a bumbling idiot, which he may be, but the thought process behind the medical corridor is a great one.
Simply take a look at the economic impact of the Research Triangle in the greater Raleigh-Durham area. If Ohio can successfully create a shared research program combining Nationwide Children's, UC, Cleveland Clinic and The Ohio State University Medical Center it could easily be the most impressive medical corridor in country and possibly the world.
Just look at what they are already doing in Columbus at Ohio State and the James, then combine that with an institution like the Cleveland Clinic and Bio Med and pharmaceutical groups will see it as a huge opportunity. If they want to jump on board, it will mean bringing people and jobs to the state to work with the researchers.
Yes, I know, somehow this will hurt the middle class.

Actually, Maybe reading comprehension is not your strong suit. The article states that UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL in Cincinnati, not CHILDREN's Hospital. They are two separate entities. I love when others mock someone for something that they themselves are doing. Good Stuff.

Leave is to some liberals to complain when someone points out that a republican is helping children then judge the post negative when pointing out the obvious.

Remember when Obama came to Columbus to show how the stimulus money was being put to work? He used Nationwide Children's Hospital as a backdrop for his speech. You could see all the cranes, massive excavation and building going on. In reality the stimulus money received for that area was the sidewalks around Livingston and Parsons. All that construction you see at Nationwide Children's Hospital for the exception of those sidewalks was all paid for by private dollars. Now Kasich is using Nationwide Children's Hospital for his political agenda as well. Dirty politicians on both sides use the poor kids in need to gain popularity while slapping the face of private industry and benefactors who has done so much for Nationwide Children's Hospital. If the state wants to help, give tax breaks to those who make the system work and leave it at that. Once again, those sick kids are once again being used for political gain.$2M is piss in the ocean compared with what private industry has done there.
