I did not say it is, so why are you getting so upset?

I do agree with you that as non-Muslims we should not have religious references on our national currency.

And then there is the matter of the official Ohio motto, which I referred to and you ignored. I am sure that as a non-Muslim you would want it changed to something non-religious, such as "With Buckeye spirit all things are possible".

<quoted text>Really? Do you see Nancy Pelosi and millions of other liberal Catholic women not in control of their bodies? More importantly, do you see the Church do them harm for not following Catholic teachings?
And again, it boils down to your hate...using false equivalency and introducing Catholicism into a thread where it was never mentioned until you lashed out from your corner.
You just don't get it...and that's why we know you're not an attorney, among other things.
Now, suddenly, you think Nancy Pelosi is a good Catholic? That's a new position for you, Nate. And you know exactly what I meant. If you think that women have equal standing in your church, you are more delusional than I had originally thought.

They treat their women like chattel. They are not worth anything to the Muslim men except to use them for sex and serve their every whim. This is in TODAY'S society!!!!!!
I don't see where Catholics do that, do you?
I'm Catholic and never had a problem with managing my own business!Nor does anyone else I know who is of the Catholic faith.

I know back in the 13-14-1500's and beyond, the crusades were treacherous, regarding Christians.
I am talking about today,though.
There is no religion that hasn't had its druthers.
Have you ever met a Muslim?

No, I basically said that I don't care. That's not quite agreement. We were founded with basically a monotheistic belief system. I have no heartburn over that thought, primarily we acknowledge that there is a higher power that guides us.

No, I also don't believe you mentioned anything regarding Ohio. As for that matter, I don't give a shit about Buckeye anything. I have no OSU spirit, never will. I wear blue and gold during fall just to irritate, not to mention, they are also the colors of the Toledo Rockets and I love to see people go ballistic with their immediate ASSumptions. That is out of the norm. You know that!
There's loons in every religion, but the Muslims....it's a way of life and the norm for them to abuse, kill, stone and burn and kill.
They are brought up to hate from the get go.......you know that also!
They have no regard for human life.
For the first two sentences you were doing soooooo well.

SHE thinks she's a good Catholic.
And nobody's forced to be Catholic...no stigma, no honor killings, no problem if women or (anyone else) want to leave...unlike your favorite religion.

I came to my opinions after much study and reflection. When someone presents a reasonable argument, I consider it. Fortunately I don't consider "most Muslims are evil" or anything that contains the words "Rastus" or "pavement ape" or "twink" to be reasonable arguments. As such, I have yet to find a compelling argument for "conservatism" on Topix.

How,about in NY when they stopped traffic to pray everyday in the streets?
Being political, correct they were allowed. If a Christian or Jew did that, they would be hauled off to jail.
Why are they allowed and we are not?
Why do the Muslim student insist on crosses and pics they don't like be taken down and foot baths be installed to wash their feet, in the schools and universities?
This country is BOWING to them, giving in to their every whim and demand, and the bottom line is we are being discriminated against. Schools, universities and companies are caving, giving them more power and leverage.
When coming to America,it's our language, our ways..Why did they come here or infest all the other countries if they won't go by the laws. Their aim is to change the world to Muslim beliefs, and kill the infidels, which is us.
I'm not saying give up all traditions but to demand we change to their ways, and infringe on OUR rights, the line in the sand is drawn.

You know, I am not saying this again...do your own research and learn like I did.
But if your political views hinder your quest for the truth, then so be it.

Totally understand what it takes to amend the Constitution. The matter is not even before the Supreme Court
But you also realize that, if you are an attorney, that state courts have a huge say in this matter.
"Granting comity [legal reciprocity] to a foreign judgment is a matter of state law, and most state and federal courts will grant comity unless the recognition of the foreign judgment would violate some important public policy of the state. This doctrine, the 'Void as against Public Policy Rule,' has a long and pedigreed history," the alliance says on its website.

While this article feels this movement stems from an anti-Muslim bias, I'm not sure that's fair. There is too much of a cultural clash here for it to not be a reasonable possibility that Muslims would not accept American secular law.
Your first two sentences suggest that you have no idea what it takes to amend the constitution since the SCOTUS has absolutely nothing to do with that process.

Comity means that if there is a judgment of a court of another country that has already legally determined a dispute, then the US court will respect. It doesn't matter if that other country is England, France or Iraq. It has nothing to do with culture or religion. It kind of makes sense, don't you think? If two people were married and divorced in Spain, why should a court in Ohio revisit that dispute?

Shitferbrains, I can't read your pea-picking mind. And so what? Didn't my original argument make it clear that God is a fairly generic monotheistic term? That it isn't specific to ONE belief system? That our founders WERE deists of WESTERN origin?

For someone with a Literature degree you have a laborious writing style that is absolutely painful to read.

You are almost on to something in the last sentence though. What is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. See, sometimes folks just can't understand the ridiculousness of their thought process until it is applied to something they find personally important. You should ask yourself why my stereotyping of Catholics offends you but you buy right into the stereotyping of Muslims.

A court in Ohio WOULD be involved in a dispute if they became US citizens and resided in Ohio PRIOR to the divorce. Particularly if they had children who were born here and are US citizens by birth. Custody laws and all...

Sharia law does not recognize secular law. In the instance of a Spanish couple, it likely wouldn't be a problem.

Take into consideration that Sharia law acknowledges that a female is eligible for marriage at the onset of menstruation... take into consideration Sharia law is heavy handed at how it dismisses women and condones violence by males. Look at how acknowledgement of Sharia law has worked in the UK and other places in Europe. Do avail yourself of others' thinking, with some understanding that mere acceptance that you have can lead to future approval of a system that is not desired...

http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/arti...
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio...

Many are considering this issue because of the very real possibilities it presents, due in part of the "acceptance" of Brits who are now seeing more ugly issues crop up. The very basis of Sharia law is marriage and family, and that system is very much different than ours. There is a very large Muslim immigrant population, just look at the population mix in Ann Arbor or Dearborn, MI and just north of here. There's a large Muslim population in Toledo as well. Do you mean to imply immigrants have never once influenced our laws, our culture, or our fundamental family units?
