This winter has given us the largest Great Lakes freeze the Midwest has seen in nearly 20 years, experts say.
The world's largest group of freshwater lakes, the Great Lakes have nearly an 80 percent freeze rate this winter. By February 6, authorities say that the lakes came to 78.9 percent frozen.
Not since 1996 have the lakes seen as much frozen surface.
Lake Superior is 92 percent frozen over its surface, breaking the old record of 91 percent frozen set in the winter of 1994.
As to the others, Lake Erie is at 95 percent, Huron is about 88 percent covered, and Lake Michigan is at 53 percent frozen. Ontario, the deepest of the lakes, is only at 29 percent iced.
Some wonder if the 1979 record will be broken. In '79 the Lakes reached a 94.7 percent freeze rate.
The long-term average of surface ice is a mere 51 percent, so this winter has for sure gone above and beyond that.

It’s been 8 years since Al Gore told us in January 2006 that we had only 10 years left to solve the global warming problem.

In the grand tradition of prophets of doom, his prognostication is not shaping up too well…

still NO statistically significant warming:

Wrong: Al Gore Predicted Arctic Summer Ice Could Disappear In 2013
( CNSNews.com )- A 2007 prediction that summer in the North Pole could be "ice-free by 2013" that was cited by former Vice President Al Gore in his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech has proven to be off... by 920,000 square miles. In his Dec.
Cnsnews
Instead of shrinking, the NASA photographs clearly show that the Arctic ice sheet is much larger than it was at the same time last year. The thick layer of summer ice, which currently stretches from Canada to Russia, is preventing ships from using the North-West Passage.-

It’s going to keep snowing in D.C. until Al Gore cries uncle.

we've had the "polar vortex" before too in the 1970s and.then it was supposedly caused by "global cooling". But back then people were idiots, right? Cooling temperatures and ice forming is from "global warming" DUH! Sure.

Global Warming: News, Facts, Causes & Effects
Global warming is the term used to describe a gradual increase in the average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and its oceans, a change that is believed to be permanently changing the Earth’s climate. There is great debate among many people, and sometimes in the news, on whether global warming is real (some call it a hoax). But climate scientists looking at the data and facts agree the planet is warming. While many view the effects of global warming to be more substantial and more rapidly occurring than others do, the scientific consensus on climatic changes related to global warming is that the average temperature of the Earth has risen between 0.4 and 0.8 °C over the past 100 years. The increased volumes of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases released by the burning of fossil fuels, land clearing, agriculture, and other human activities, are believed to be the primary sources of the global warming that has occurred over the past 50 years. Scientists from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate carrying out global warming research have recently predicted that average global temperatures could increase between 1.4 and 5.8 °C by the year 2100. Changes resulting from global warming may include rising sea levels due to the melting of the polar ice caps, as well as an increase in occurrence and severity of storms and other severe weather events.

The earth goes into cycles every 20 years and erratic weather can last 10-20 years.
Were experiencing a weather cycle now.

In easy terms....
The earths surface and waters are warming, thus creating the melting of ice glaciers from the water beneath the glaciers.

Too bad they have no record of how warm or cool the earth was for the past 4 thousand years. They only go on the past 100 and act like that's enough to be accurate.

Regardless , the waters flowing underneath the glaciers are proven to be warmer than years before and is enough to use for valid data.
Why is so hard for people to believe scientific facts that are there for the reading?
It's a cycyclical thing were in now....occurring every 20 years or so.

Prostituting Science

by Russ Vaughn

Over at Forbes, Patrick Michaels, Director of the Center for the Study of Science at the Cato Institute and a senior fellow in research and economic development at George Mason University, has written a serious and thought-provoking piece regarding the deleterious impact of the fraud of global warming on the world scientific community. Michaels, citing an article in the Australian literary journal, Quadrant, by Garth Paltridge, whom Michaels characterizes as one of the world's most respected atmospheric scientists, posits a harsh view of the inevitable and devastating impact of the current climate change hysteria on future scientific research.

For those of us who have smelled a rat since the outset of this latest "sky is falling" phenomenon, there's little in the article to surprise us and a whole lot of material to support "I told ya so's." As we Deniers long suspected, Paltridge and Michaels lay the blame for the specious science supporting the Goreist fanaticism right at the feet of leftist politics and federal funding....

"The broad theory of man-made global warming is acceptable in the purely qualitative sense. If humans continue to fill the atmosphere with carbon dioxide, there can be little doubt that the average temperature of the world will increase above what it would have been otherwise. The argument about the science is, and always has been, whether the increase would be big enough to be noticed among all the other natural variations of climate. The economic and social argument is whether the increase, even if it were noticeable, would change the overall welfare of mankind for the worse...

...It is a bit surprising that what seems to be a roughly 50/50 split of public opinion is not at all a reflection of the much vaunted consensus of the climate science community. Perhaps this says a lot for the commonsense of the person in the street. In any event, the complexity of the issue, and the vast scale of the resources required to solve the problem (if there is a problem), make it difficult for middle-ground argument to be heard."

Agree, but I think California needs it right now. I'm having a pretty good day today. I just made another great deal with my cb tech for another radio that is very hard to find. I also found out some more stuff about this business yesterday that is nothing but good news for me. Maybe Pale took that spell off of me and I will promise right now not to mess with her anymore. It's a start. And my plow truck is doing fabulous. It is such a pleasure to operate a vehicle that runs better than it should.

Regardless of that, I'm going to believe that the way I treated her last week was why bad things happened to me at that time. little messed up things started to happen that shouldn't have. I know that people here thrive on other people being mean to each other and I just don't want to do it anymore. Kharma is a bytch.
