Because, SL, people who really DO have knowledge of things can't go blabbing such things on the internet. I'm always suspect of those who write their stories out on the internet, because nothing is anonymous and those who have something to protect simply don't do it.
I have plenty to protect, yet those that know me, in person, or think they do via topix posts I have made, know I DO have knowledge. Judging someones knowledge based solely on what a poster wants to share is ignorant.

You know, I have always cringed when I see the hissing matches between retirement accounts and education and what someone does for a living. Those with money and class don't do that. They just don't. Not denying that some folks here are financially comfortable (partly through good choices, partly through sheer luck), for I am certain they are. But it's just not something you brag about to strangers on the internet, or even to your neighbors next door. People with money and class quietly live their lives, often choosing to do Good Samaritan-type acts anonymously. They also don't need to share what their CV looks like to impress others.

So, SL, again - no opus from me but I am the last person to be impressed by what someone types out on such a place as Topix. And I certainly have no need to "share my knowledge" to prove a point, particularly when such knowledge is readily available on the internet should you care to look.

Good day.

Too bad it was all about me.
I'm interested in how you did that, so please tell me. I've tried for months and am ignored by Topix.

I've been quite restrained, believe me.
I think you've mentioned you're a lawyer 80 or 90 times, right?

Actually, you bring it up all of the time.
If there's mention of it in a post of mine, there's usually subject matter being discussed...not merely me talking about the occupation I hold, or the schools I attended.

Exactly what is my job title, Douche?
As for alma maters, you'd never survive in this town with every OSU grad literally wearing their colors.

Re "Paco", I have to step in and say he has never been rude to me. Ever. Not once. Cringing isn't quite the same as going after someone, is it?

And if someone personally knew someone who COULD, the last place they would be talking about it is on Topix because that would pretty much guarantee such clearance being removed from said individual for fear that someone - no names - would blab a story that might cause a problem. Get it?
False. It's no problem to state one has a clearance. Most employers like mine make it known their employees are cleared. One is necessary if you work on any type of military installation. That is well known. Anyone who knows me, knows I have a clearance. Anyone who works on a federal work site has a CAC, and that is well known, it is part getting on a base. It's not secret knowledge. If you don't believe me, show up any time Glitter and I or others get together, and I'll show you the CAC. That too is NOT against the rules. It's not going to do you any good to possess it -- all the federales will do is confiscate it from you.

I'd like to also know how my employer would know I am on Topix, if a) I've never identified myself by name, social, etc. here and b) I have never named my employer OR where I work (two separate entities). I'd also like to know more why my employer would CARE. Having a clearance, ANY LEVEL OF CLEARANCE, provides you access to very specific information, on a NEED TO KNOW BASIS. Just because you might have the level to get it, doesn't mean you will. You will only get it if necessary.

Agreed. You can weed out, easily, those who are blowing smoke out of their butts eventually. If one can't keep the story straight, they're lying.

Go back and read. I mentioned someone who was getting State secrets from the President, not someone who works for a private contractor who gets government work.

Moreover, I stand behind what I said. There are certain folks who stay away from posting on the Internet, stay away from Facebook, etc., etc. for very good reasons. Again, not referring to an employee of a firm who gets "confidential" government work.

I posted the definition of the clearances so you don't need to educate me. Again, go back and read. It is SL who is holding that over people's heads and using it to go after people. Since half of Columbus probably has them via their employer, it's no big deal to me. I really could care less who has what. At the end of the day, it doesn't make one any better than the next person. It may mean they've kept their nose clean, though.

Lastly, your postings here are considered public. As such, they can be subpoenaed and used against you. I am sorry that you feel the need to fight that; however, the times, they are a'changin'.

Apparently not! The taking of sides around here has gotten to be too extreme for me to hang out much anymore. It seems like it's "us versus them" on pretty much anything any more and if you agree with a point against the wrong side, you risk being ganged up on. The good news I got caught up on a ton of reading I had been putting off!

Who is the eejit who judged me clueless for commenting that it was "kinda sad" that George received incendiary and mean icons for thanking someone? Well, whoever it is you are making the teevee look inviting - and for me, that's saying a lot.

Ditto. Although I describe my employment, I have never revealed anything that could identify him.
Now in my case, he sometimes reads topix over my shoulder, so nothing to hide there. And if topix comes into my personal life, I'll have a lawyer subpoena certain IP addresses post haste because topix would have HAD to provide the information. A violation of the privacy agreement.

As for security clearances, my cousin retired a few years ago from a position with the NRC as, more or less, head of their public relations. Documents created by her and her name are all over the internet, so where is the big ssecret? I'm sure her position required one of the highest security levels there is. But it's public record.

It's smoke and mirrors, gokeefe. All the trolls can find to jabber about.

Whoa, Nellie! The only one who used the words 'getting state secrets from the president' was YOU, and sarcastically at that.
And no, SL was not holding her husband's clearance over anyone's head. MILLIONS of Americans have them.
And since when is defending yourself or your friends 'going after somebody?' You've got the wrong girl.
And I've never said of implied I was any better than anyone else.
If my background intimidates you, that's on you. I'm not changing my life.
Yes, I let loose on Reader for three of her, in my opinion, ridiculous stances, which she has stated over and over. She's welcome to her choices in life, and I am free to state when I don't agree.
