The light-year is a measure of distance, not time. It is the total distance that a beam of light, moving in a straight line, travels in one year. To obtain an idea of the size of a light-year, take the circumference of the earth (24,900 miles), lay it out in a straight line, multiply the length of the line by 7.5 (the corresponding distance is one light-second), then place 31.6 million similar lines end to end. The resulting distance is almost 6 trillion (6,000,000,000,000) miles!

Yes, but...there are labs around the world creating new humans by altering DNA. The future that we read about and thought so unimaginable is here.

not without existing dna. Whait... what? Oh yeah. The gmo nightmare is upon us. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3...
As far as your unimaginable future goes they better at least stop regarding what they don't understand as "junk" in human DNA if they want to be successful.

Imagine if you will, a single blood cell, now imagine that represents our galaxy, and in that galaxy is our solar system and then us. There are some 100,000,000,000 stars in our own galaxy , The Milky Way.The Biggest star known in the Universe is VY Canis Majoris. It is in fact in the Milky Way Galaxy. The Milky Way is about 100,000 light years long and from our position in the Milky Way right now VY Canis Majoris is about 5,000 light years away. The Sun is over 1 solar radius wide which is 432,000 miles (690,000 Kilometers). The Sun is about 870,000 miles (1.4 million KM) across and takes up 99.9% of the solar systems mass which 1,000,000 (1 million) Earths could fit inside the Sun with a surface temperature of about 10,000 degrees. However, the Sun is a pretty average star scientist think and is NO were near the size of VY Canis Majoris. VY Canis Majoris is a red hypergiant star that is an extremely big kind of star. We are the whos of whoville my friends living in a snowflake of life, Take care, So long and thanks for all the fish
now imagine if we are correct in our calculations of how old solar systems are. Imagine the oldest one sustaining intelligent life billions of years before the milky way! Boy.... they might be far more advanced than humans

As dpantz said, not without existing DNA.
And it further proves that intelligence is required to "create" life.

No she did not, but my twins had tails as embryos in utero.

When are you ever going to cast away that silly book of fables and admit that the theory of evolution is supported by empirical, observable evidence?

By my "kind," one must assume you mean all mankind...since no one has ever observed spontaneous generation or new DNA form as a result of mutation.

Yes the possibility's are endless. But on the flip side, this could be all there is as far as life as we know it. There are so many different variables as to why and how, the 4 elements found through out the Universe, have evolved, into this Alchemy of life. We have the right sized sun, radiating the right amount of heat, creating a magnetic pull, that keeps the planets on there spiral rotation. The Earth is in a Goldilocks zone, not to close like Venus a gassy planet, not to far like Mars a cold baron planet. Planets like Jupiter and Saturn, are large enough that there gravitational pull, helps prevent asteroids and comets colliding with the earth.

At the edge of the heliosphere, you wouldn't know by looking whether you left the cradle of humanity behind and floated out into interstellar space. You would just see unfathomably empty space, no matter which side of the invisible line you were on.

But scientists now have strong evidence that NASA's Voyager 1 probe has crossed this important border, making history as the first human-made object to leave the heliosphere, the magnetic boundary separating the solar system's sun, planets and solar wind from the rest of the galaxy.

NASA: Voyager 1 has left solar system

The twin spacecraft Voyager 1 and 2 were launched in 1977, 16 days apart. As of Wed October 2, 2013, according to NASA's real-time odometer, Voyager 1 is 18.8 billion kilometers (11.7 billion miles) from Earth. Its sibling, Voyager 2, is 15.3 billion (9.5 billion) kilometers from our planet.

And as great an accomplishment for mankind that day was, I do not recall much about it in the news.
So logically, as humans , my question would be. Looking at the facts , as we know them to be about the Universe. That there is no other planet,in the known universe that has the complexity and abundance of life as we know it, Even if the where it wouldn't be close enough to have any kind of influence over our social human survival. Indeed, all the things we need to exist, are right here on this Planet. And it is the Evolution of this life cycle , that all life on Earth is all inter connected..To continue to destroy our environments because and for our own self conceits, and self interest socially is nothing more then stupid ignorant insanity. When as a whole as one species, we do now have great influence over our eco systems, why are we not using the best of our human knowledge and ingenuity,to better preserve and manage our finite resources, in a more responsible and intelligent way. Inequality, racism, religions, our fiat monetary system and even corrupt democracies, are all man-made social systems

DNA and Mutations
by the Understanding Evolution team

A mutation is a change in DNA, the hereditary material of life. An organism's DNA affects how it looks, how it behaves, and its physiology. So a change in an organism's DNA can cause changes in all aspects of its life. Mutations are essential to evolution; they are the raw material of genetic variation. Without mutation, evolution could not occur. In this tutorial, well explore:

DNA and the molecular basis of mutations

types of mutations

causes of mutations

effects of mutations

a case study of the effects of mutations

the random nature of mutations
GMOs in Food, medicine for virus have all have there DNA manipulated.
