If there were not enough refining capacity to serve the US market, that refinery would not have been shuttered. Delta is cutting out the middle man.

It was closed because it was in need of an expensive rebuild...too much to justify its miniscule output for a huge operation like Conoco-Phillips but just right for a company like Delta.

As the Canadian ambassador to the United States said, "It's Obama's choice. He can have the oil travel by pipeline or by rail."

They will rip us off, business as usual in the USA!
Sorry, but that's my opinion!
Howdy Bizzy.......

If a producer has more of a widget than folks want to buy.......
In order to sell that widget in a market where demand is low, they will have to reduce the price.

I hope I was helpful.....It is called capitalism.......I am a believer that capitalism works.....

“2012 continues to look favorable for Valero. Our major hydrocracker projects continue on-budget and on-schedule with start-up of the Port Arthur unit planned in the third quarter and completion of the St. Charles unit planned in the fourth quarter. Also, the export market continues to be robust, and Valero has been exporting products on strong demand from international markets that have been paying a higher value than local markets. These export volumes have helped to offset weak domestic demand and contributed to higher operating rates at our refineries.”

You really are a simpleton.

I wonder why it is necessary to transmit all of that oil for "domestic" use thousands of mile to the gulf?

Why would companies like BP and Valero wish to flood the US market with oil or expand their domestic refining capacity when they can maximize their profits by exporting?
You people have your heads in the sand.

Hey, Bee....Someone explained this to me years ago:

Every product in the US must travel by truck at some time or another. If the cost of fuel goes up...so does the cost of every product on the shelves and most services. Cost of fuel goes down...it reflects in a decrease in the cost of everything.
Another reason why truck drivers will always be needed and it is a solid career path to follow.

Hello my dear,
I understand but aren't the companies greedy? They fix prices and maybe they will lower((supply/demand) but the consumers always get the brunt of it!
