Better yet, take it over to Father Romano over at Our Lady of Victory Church in Marble Cliff. He is Italian, meaning FROM ITALY, and he will best be able to relate to what I'm talking about the most. Don't take it to one of the members of the falsetto voiced boys club interspersed at parishes around town. Most of those boys are Westerners who dont have a clue.
It's not looking too good for you so far...

1. Obviously, you were 13 and not committed to the idea.
2. Sometimes, the better way is view the context and the responses. Have you seen me support those comments? Sometimes, no response is the best response, particularly in the context that the insults were not aimed at me.
3. There are men who see women as meat, some who don't. Women do influence that. In new-agey speak, you get what your vibes put out.
I was committed to the idea until I had some realizations and decided that church wasn't for me.

Sometimes sitting back and saying nothing is showing support, especially when you only speak out against people you might have other issues with. I don't have issues with RU, but I've addressed some of the "over-the-line" posts of his. I've also spoken up FOR Catman Dave and SeriousLady. It's a personal preference, I guess. When I see something I think is wrong, I try to speak up.

I don't put any vibes out. I don't talk about sex, I don't preach about sex, and I certainly don't put anything out there about my body, clothing, behavior, etc.

An Italian Catholic will best know where I'm coming from because he grew up in a culture similar to the one in which I grew up in. The lifestyle, the expectations and the approach to the faith are far different in Europe than they are here. Faith is embedded in the cultural fabric of someone's life by the way the act, and by the dynamics of how they interact with others. It has more to do with lifestyle than anything else, and our lifestyle is not based on Snookie and the Khardahian skanks.
He comes from the Abruzzi region, which is in the middle of the country but he understands what an ethnic Catholic thinks and why they think that way. The falsetto-voiced boys club members run the gamut of those who understand (the ones who came from an ethnic home) and those who are more Westernized. I think he will tell you my mentality is pretty par for the course.
Whether your mentality is "par for the course" isn't the issue. It's whether it's a true reflection of a man who claims he loves god and worships Jesus, as well as represents himself as a good Christian.

Because I wasn't. My parents wanted us to choose for ourselves. We were raised reading the bible, saying prayers, etc. My mother was a Catholic and my father a Luthern or Protestant. They were married in the Catholic Church, but my father made the decision to allow his children to choose how they wanted to worship. At the age of 13 my brother decided to become a Methodist and got himself baptized. At the age of 8 I decided to also go to the Methodist church. My mother became more involved with the church around the time her father died, so I decided I wanted to go to church with her, which is why I started going to the Catholic church. I went there till I was about 17 or 18. There were things I didn't like about the religion, so I went to another church.

Now, I've answered your question honestly and without any snark.

Big effing deal. That's the website for all the well-to-do wannabe WASPs who go to that parish. Of course nobody is going to put what we type here on the church's website.

They dont throw bananas at soccer matches in Europe and Russian politicians don't call Obama a "monkey with a hand grenade" because they want to hold hands and sing kumbaya together.

I don't give a rats ass about what the Sandra Flukes of this world like you think of me or what I believe in. But I will fight you to the death because I'll be damned if my loved ones will ever find someone like you normal or desirable. So you go ahead and lead the unattractive life you lead, but just to be sure you better make plans for your spinsterhood so you can have a place big enough to house all those cats you're going to be taking into your house.
You still think this matters to me somehow...lol. As much as you don't give a "rat's ass" about me, what makes you think I care any more or desire the company of someone like you in my life? We are on opposing ends, for sure. Because as hard as you fight to be misogynistic, angry, exclusive, bitter, hateful and angry, I'm fighting just as hard to be accepting, loving and kind. And you know what they say - you attract more bees with honey. Good luck in your endeavors.

Think again. Do I need to go there, again? You know damn well what I'm referring to... here kitty, kitty, kitty. Google is out there, people want to know what they are dealing with, and then when they figure it out, you cry stalking and claim you're marketing?! That's one for the books when you use the same info on a million websites. And the constant nattering and sensitivity to the insults is insane. It must hit a nerve if you can't leave it alone. Men do behave unlike women, there's a reason for it.

Yes it is. I am a mainstream ethnic Catholic. We say the same things Russian politicians say around here (e.g. Obama is a "monkey with a hand grenade"). We are not politically correct and that's why I don't have to worry about any halfrican grandkids running around these parts.

The movie "Get Shorty" has done the best job encapsulating the ethnic mentality, so I will repeat the relevant dialogue:

MARTIN (Danny DeVito)

A few weeks before shooting, I went back to Bensonhurst, just to listen to you guys. See, I'm Italian, but I grew up in Tarzana. So I wanted to pick up your rhythms of speech.

CHILI (John Travolta)

We talk different?

MARTIN

It's more like your attitude. Your tone, your speech patterns demonstrate a certain confidence in yourselves, in your opinions, your indifference to conventional views.

CHILI

You mean like we don't give a sh^t.

MARTIN

Yeah. Kinda.....

If your mother was Catholic and your parents were married in the Catholic Church, they BOTH had to promise to raise their children as Catholics.
