Zoe, I remember party lines and the operator would say, " Number Please " then you would say the number you wanted to call. They were at switchboards with wires that would connect the two parties.
Boy, we have come a long way from that!!!!
Sometimes there were three way party lines. Talk about a pain. Some people were so rude and wouldn't get off the phone, after talking for a long period, knowing there were others who needed to make calls.
We had candlestick phones...the receiver was on a hook. So cute.
The rings were so different back then.
Do you remember Top Value Stamps? You would get them from the gas stations and stores. How about S & H stamps or plaid?

Yes, also green Eagle stamps, you would lick,(ugh) and put them in a book then bring it in for cash value when purchasing an item. At the time I think it was $3.00 value. LOL
I also remember saving TAX STAMPS and saving them for TAX STAMP DRIVES at school.
Oy
I also remember rationing of food, blackouts, donating silver and or gold to the cause, which was WWII.
Lots of fond memories but also bitter-sweet memories.....it was hard times.....
Although my family always had the necessities, and very fortunate, it was a stressful time for all.

Agree. Times were simple growing up and we were very fortunate. Gas would be 19 cents and there would be gas wars between stations. Store brand bread would be on special ten loaves for a dollar. My mother canned and made homemade pies and noodles, yummy! Lots of snow in Central Ohio in the winter. Remember snow ice cream? Snow, vanilla, milk and sugar! How about milk toast? Not a thing was wasted, food was appreciated and you ate what was on your plate.

Another thing we were talking about was (this is somewhat gross), is dandruff. When I was a kid, sitting in church, I would notice that the people in front of me often wore black or dark colors and the dandruff was all over their top or suit jacket. I wonder if conditioner was the improvement or better shampoo products. It was quite noticeable on folks.

Circleville was 474 or GR4 (GRanite). Seems funny in this day and age.

Times have certainly changed. I don't think you see as many blind people. Must be all of the advances in eye care, lasers and so on.

Funny but not really. Yesterday I saw a blind guy with a guide dog crossing the street. The dog took him across on the wrong light......twice.

Sorry, I didn't mean for it to be funny, just an observation.

Time to sharpen your crayons. Make sure you color in the lines; hope your Mama bought you the box with the sharpener built in. Forget it, you're used to nubs.
